Strolled into my local Menard's and they have added a lot of knives they didn't have before, and for the first time, they had a nice selection of Bucks.

110, 119, 55, 379, 373 and all sizes of Bantams (except the largest) in Realtree and Black, with the small Bucklite fixed blade thrown in.

I love to see a store introduce Bucks, that haven't carried them before. (At least none around here have)

I also noticed this at my local menards. Must be a chain-wide thing and not just on a local scale. There knife rack is usually pretty empty with mostly leatherman and guidsman. Last time was different though, I was pleasantly surprised that the rack was filled with various bucks!

I believe it or not but politics & pressure from groups plays a role in the dissappearence of knives local stores and a smidgen of liability. Luckily where I live our ACE is like the old hardware stores "back in the day" with a good display case of knives "But I'm rural" But other stores also carried knives when I was kid. My 1st knife I got with S&H Green Stamps 60's along with a OLD PAL Minnow Bucket which I still have today in mint condition. I Still have the knife too "cheaply made" but it was great as a kid to be able to buy! VS all the restrictions they have today. Drug stores carried knives when I was kid and course the 5 & DIME now its "speciality stores" or WAL*MART. Even around Boston where I grew up! during the school years Summers on a farm we could "open carry" a sheath knife "bowie style" no length limits! but the folders the police would check for length against their palms of their hands if they stopped you and found one on you. You can wear these today with out attracting trouble from law enforcement an social dogooders? This is why the WAVE TOOL is become the most popular knife to carry its not just a knife but a MULTI TOOL buttefly design or not. MULTI TOOLS are more P.C. to the Urban Yuppies....LOL It makes them think they can fix anything! and still have a defensive weapon disguised as a Multi Tool thats alright with them. LOL

I'll have to check my local Menards next time I go. I know they carry leatherman tools and some cheap junk knives but I've never seen Buck's there. The local farm and fleet store carries about 15 models of Buck knives though.

btw,, I have a good friend who is a knife dealer and Leatherman just put out a "NO Lower than" list; which means, no selling on ebay, etc, and dealers MUST sell for a certain price or more; he said there are 5 companies doing that now; even thos "Price Fixing" is against federal Law. It is like Rolex; you can sell them cheap once,, but you will never get another Leatherman if they find out..!!

I work for Menards and as an avid knife lover, I was thrilled to see the selection increase. Needless to say they've taken well over 400 dollars in knives and multitools from me already but thats ok. Haha

Yep, I saw those as well and bought a bantam bbw realtree. They also had a nice selection of Kershaw.

Our Menards has a great selection, mostly American made, and beats Wal-mart. I'd have bought mine there if I had known, I got it at Farm and Fleet for the same price. But I'm a Menards fan.
