Here's my question to BF. How do you kit out the inside of the handle on your survival knife?

My googling has turned up ESEE mini kits (above), but no handle inserts. But now I am thinking it has to have a compass like the one I had in my teenage years.

Yup. Pretty much, for me.

Some "storm matches", their small "sandpaper" striker strip, and a small baggy of "Vaseline"-dipped cotton balls...

Small ferro rod, fishing line, hooks, water purification tablets, moleskin tape, a few pieces of Rite in the rain paper with a Space Pen refill, button compass. And ofc another knife like a Classic SD.
I would even try to fit in there a mylar space blanket.

Ask Sam Wilson . He probably has an idea. I would put a compass, storm-proof matches, and Vaseline coated cotton balls as a minimum.

The nostalgia and laughs are hitting hard with this thread.

As a kid, mine had some fishing lure and hooks in it and a sheath that could be turned into a slingshot.
