Like many of you, I have SAK's with tweezers. While occasionally handy, they are not terribly effective for splinter removal in my experience.

A while back I picked up a pair of tiny tick/splinter tweezers from County Comm - http://countycomm.com/tweezer.htm and I must say they are really effective for splinters. I picked up another one today messing with a stick of fatwood and couldn't get it out with my SAK tweezers so I grabbed my Survival Tweezers from my pack and had it out in a few moments. I like these enough that I've ordered three more.

The same tweezers seem to be available under the "Uncle Bill's" name for about a buck less elsewhere. Regardless, they are very, very good at their job of removing splinters (I haven't picked up any ticks yet).

Those look like the same ones I have too. I have always known them by the Sliver Gripper name.

I picked mine up in this style case, however, I like tip clip on those too!

They are also the tweezers than generally come in Adventure Medical kits. They work great.

Brian, those are the ones. I'd like to see them in a tactical black finish though for all of us high speed operators who move silently like ghosts through the night...

;)

I use the same ones. They are small but they are super pointy and can pull out the tiny, hairlike cactus spines I get in sometimes.

Agreed, they are some of the best little tweezers.

I have another pair of tweezers that can be locked shut. While they are not as small the locking feature is great when you don't want to lose little items.

I use the same ones!! I got mine from CountyComm also. I liked them so much, I bought a pair for my brother to put in his kit.:)

Thoughs are great little tweezers. I attached mine to the ring on my SAK farmer. I take them everywhere. Now my farmer is perfect, I really missed not having tweezers on me.

I carry a pair of the sliver grippers with me every where I go, a very handy piece of kit that doesn't take up much space or weight. Chris

Brigade Quartermasters(actiongear.com) has them in Black. They don't sell them in silver for some reason.

I have that on my keychain and the silver ones in my small FAK's.

Those black one are tactical tweezers, in the event the mall ninjas have crabs

AG Russell has 'em too. They *work*.

Splinters can be tough to get out. I keep a little hotel "freebie" sewing kit in my first aid kit and the needle is handy for getting a splinter out too.

I got some surgical tweezers that have super sharp pointed tips. I bought them for precision computer work (read "dropped screw"). They are great for splinters too, but nowhere near as compact as the sliver grippers.

I have several pairs of them. The original one I bought is better quality then the later ones. They seem to come with either the keyring attachment or in a small plastic tube.

+1 for the Silver Grippers. I was lucky enough to snag a few pair from a salesman who called on me at work last year and they had nothing to do with the order he got. As for the tweezers on a SAK, I haven't used them for much since I outgrew my Cheech & Chong phase!

fishiker, it was the tweezers that got me to start carrying a SAK Classic back in the mid-70's instead of the little roach clip I used to carry in my pocket along with my pen knife. We thought we were so clever fooling *the Man* and all...

:D

But yeah, other than for *that* purpose, SAK tweezers are rather useless.

The SAK tweezers work OK for splinters if you carry a sharp sewing needle to break some skin. I always carry a few sewing needles in my survival first aid kits.

Yeah, I carry a couple needles in each kit too but these tweezers just work so well and so easily that they're worth owning IMO. I suppose a guy could grind the SAK tweezers into points too.
