Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Adam, I am shocked, I mean SHOCKED that you actually received that knife within the 30 days window which as you recall IO was dubious about you ordering in our private conversations.

In the past, as an ardent Survivor! I used to fight some of the same S!K detractors on here like cats and dogs both the meaning of S!K being a Ponzi scheme. I could simply not fathom back then that they were doing that but much later on, the coin finally dropped! I am very happy for you to have received your knife in a timely manner but the fact that some folks like the one posting a few posts back had waited since 2015, is beyond outrageous and a heinous business practice. Enjoy that GSO if you must, but keep contributing to Nathan's / Jo's beyond this point
@Casinostocks Yep, I to was shocked . I decided to roll the dice and I think during a CPK lull on the board I bought a Factory 2nd for reasons mentioned. I only wanted one and it was against my better judgement. To that end an apology is on order to the people who have waited or are waiting several years for their orders to get filled. I will say I am CPK all the way and figured if I had one Survive in my stash(just because)it wouldn’t be all bad. In fact I may be gifting the S!K to my bro later this year. It is a good knife but loving my CPK’s and their excellent customer service (I was able to modify my existing preorder thanks to Jo). I have two CPK’s enroute (a DEF thanks to a great guy and proxy and a killer FK1 thanks to a fellow board member) .

Just curious - were you able to see what made the knife you purchased a factory second?

In the past, almost everyone who bought a factory second couldn't find any issues with the blade...not even cosmetic issues. It's one of the major gripes their waiting customers had.
@Jondllas311 I really couldn’t find what I would deem a blemish on the knife. The only thing different in my opinion was the notation of Factory 2nd below the flag on the blade. I still feel the need to apologize to all who have had bad experiences dealing with S!K for buying one direct from the factory.

Well it arrived and I have to say it is a nice piece of steel. Don’t see any flaws at first look. My point in posting is to give others who are in the position that I was in hope that they too will get the knife that they paid for - after a long wait that is...

I've stated this before but I'll say it again:

I came late to the Survive! party before I became fully aware of their abhorrent business practices. I've owned two of their blades, both obtained on the secondary market. They were both very fine knives, the 4.7 proving to be a very versatile and excellent belt knife. There are some who are rather ho-hum about their designs but I like knives with clean simple lines and the Survive! models delivered in that regard.

That all said, it simply does not make up for the fact that they, as a company, perpetually ignore the plain fact that the way they do business is just flat out wrong. They lost their place here for a reason. They lost their reputation among so many for a reason. I offloaded my knives for a reason.

It doesn't matter how good their knives are, they will never see a penny from me. If I can't recommend them to friends of mine, there is no reason for me to maintain a place for Survive! in my collection.

They will pay their just dues eventually, it is simply a matter of time.

I'm glad you got the knife you paid for after nearly 5 YEARS.

My advice to anyone still waiting on a survive knife is to immediately start the claim process with whatever financial institution you used to pay. Even if the company doesn't fold, resulting in you never getting anything from them, why would you want to own a knife from a scamming scumbag company.

I ordered a 7/7 in Jan 16 and a 5.1 in May of 16. They have not started the 5.1 and from what I can tell all those that ordered in 2015 & 2016 had their knives sold in the monthly sales as they claim they were all done and inspected in the last quarter of 2016. 3 years later they started making the preorders for the 7/7 again. They took orders on the 5.1 over 3.5 years ago and they have not started making them. Now they are taking orders for knives that don't even exist. The new SK line that was suppose to speed things up were never outsourced to another company and from what I can tell the move to Millet is where they are making their knives now but I have been told many times other companies make them and they put them together. Peter's most likely is doing the treat but they lie so much nobody knows what is truly going on. I don't give a flip if they can get them out in 30 days as I will never send them money again. I wouldn't take it on a show as I wouldn't want others to get ripped off by their ponzi tactics. How they are not in jail is beyond me.

Other than Randall, I'm not aware of any CUSTOM MAKER who has a wait time that long. I could order a custom knife forged from unobtainium and left over space shuttle parts, and I could have it in a year or less from most makers here and on other forums.
I've said this before. I don't think S!K believes that the number of members on here who they have lied to and treated so badly matters one bit in their day to day operations. They are still moving right along and from the buzz I hear in our world, they are doing quite well financially. It's rumored they only work Mon-Thur as well.
I did see they had some "2nds" available on the website last week. I put one in my cart just to see what would happen and at checkout, the "90 day shipping" warning came up. Business as usual. If you don't have it on the shelf, then how and why could you sell it? It doesn't take 90 days to ship anything in today's world.
Rant over.
I hope everyone gets their knives. Eventually.
You wont get it in 90 days as most 2nds are getting them between 10-12 months and some are about 16 months.

They keep changing and deleting information to keep money coming in. The FB page they use to have is gone when profits went down and youtube with the truth on it were taken down. They don't do business here so chat is down. They still have people that send them money for future designs and they have their pets that get knives early compared to others. When you rake in enough money there comes a time when the money will make money and they don't care about the customers they scam because when they react they have made a million off their money and that earns them a living. They are at a point where they could close the doors and live off the interest but they don't because they have people sending them money for phantom ware. Nobody is happy about waiting 4 years and growing but if they can keep getting funding for new designs and people don't cancel the order for 2 or 3 years then they can list 5 new designs and get a million for each design and earn 10% interest on the 5 million for 2 years then they are on their way to living off the interest. Every time I see them they look like they are living the good life and it only gets better with each passing year.

WOW. That is 100% true but seeing it in writing makes it so much stranger. They don't actually "make" knives. They "assemble" knives, sharpen them, and ship them. And the last two pieces of that equation is what EVERY knifemaker or knife company does.
So essentially, they are a knife design and assembly company. Hmmm. Seems that would be easy to keep up with and not make customers wait years for a knife you don't even build. LOL

No, no remember: Guy is the best knife sharpener in the entire world. He owes this superior skill to the fact that he receives divine assistance. You see, every single knife he sharpens, requires an eldritch ritual involving animal sacrifice, slapping some virgins, and lots and lots of chanting under the first full moon of every fourth month. Probably a bunch of gesticulation also, no one can say for sure. All outsiders are Forbidden. Anyway, at that time when the chanting is done, the virgins are slapped, and the lobsters have been sacrificed, the Blessed Heaven Dragon swoops down from the very highest branches of Yggdrasill and evaluates Guy's work and prayers in a standard QC check. If all is well, the Great Dragon breathes life into each edge, and Guy is then able to set the knife aside wherein it rests in a special container forged of Kydex that fell from the sky a thousand years ago, found in Tibet, and shaped into being by Shaolin Chi masters before being delivered to him in person by courier Griffin. It has to rest there for like, four years before it can finally be reverently boxed up by Ellie and shipped to the grateful customer.

Then, ONLY THEN, is the sacred ceremony considered complete.

......... that about sums it up.....I hear that issues around the supply of virgins to complete the ritual have been a bit of a problem...oh and the Dragon took a contract with the mob that made GoT so that held things up for a bit. Now the Ice King has been killed (I note it was not with a Survive? blade either, Ayra Stark ordered one but an ancient Valyrian Steel Dagger made by a long deceased race was easier to get than her back order) the Dragon is back on the roster so they just have to solve the supply chain issues with virgins and all should be GREAT .....

You know, I kind of already knew you were a bit of a nerd but this is... Well... just pure nerdery... And it's awesome! Well said, sir.

This bit gave me a good chuckle. We'd all be white walkers if arya ordered a survive.
.....it would be even funnier if it were not true. I am sure there are some deluded people that think they are anything but a scam (crooks at worst utterly incompetent at best).....they are making a GoT "prequel" set The Old Gods and New only know how many years/centuries before the show that has just finished, it may even include a Stark or Targaryen signing up for a Pre-order or Second that is wont have been delivered by the time that Ned Stark is getting his head removed in Kings Landing.............

Same BS as usual...

Survive! 11/1/2019 "Big Announcement with this 1st Friday Production Update"

Current Production:
  • The last few batches of GSO-7/7 blades are working their way through finishing. We expect the last of the Preorders to be shipping out over the next few weeks. We will list any extras after all Preorders have shipped.
  • GSO-3.5 Preorders are continuing to ship in small batches. These are going together well and will start heading out in large batches as the GSO-7/7 Preorders are wrapping up and the GSO-3.5 fasteners that are out for black oxide finishing make their way back to the shop.
  • GSO-12 / SK-12 are working their way through surface grinding and will begin bevel grinding next week.
  • Heat treating for the GSO-6 / SK-6 and GSO-4.5 / SK-4.5 blades will be completed any day now. With our new, larger surface grinder, these will get through the last stages of production very quickly.
  • The GSO-10 / SK-10 blades have been perimeter machined and will be going to heat treat with the GSO-8 and GSO-5.1 blades once those are ready.
  • GSO-8 / SK-8 and GSO-5.1 / SK-5.1 blades have begun perimeter machining and will be heading off to heat treat soon.
  • Fixtures have been made for the TSK and EDC-2. These will begin machining as soon as the GSO-8 and GSO-5.1 are completed.
  • Fixtures are being made for the new E-2.7, E-4, and E-5.5. With their production schedule beginning to open up, Millit's machines will also be available for kicking off production of the E Series knives.
Future Production:
  • All of the GSO Series models that have existing Preorders are in production.
  • Original SURVIVE! Starter campaign orders will be 97% fulfilled in a few weeks, once the GSO-3.5 Preorders have all been shipped.
  • We have been investing in more equipment, which means we can start manufacturing several models at once and at a faster pace.
  • Millit is finishing up most of their existing projects, which is opening up even more machining and finishing capacity for SURVIVE! production.
This means that now is time for us to modify our business model, reapproach the SK Series and introduce the new SURVIVE! Essential Series.

As you know, there is a high demand for the GSO Series knives. This would be great, but several of the innovations over the last few years are making it harder to get ahead of that demand. Many of the GSO Series finishing steps are time consuming, one blade at a time processes. With this in mind we introduced the SK Series, but have struggled to get it up and running due to some problems with past production. Now that those older production issues are solidly in our rearview, we’re ramping up our manufacturing capacity, and reevaluating our business model. With all preorders now in production, we will be putting more emphasis on the SK Series and Essential Series as the foundation of our business, while continuing to offer the GSO Series in a much more limited and manageable fashion.

Learn more about each Series in the SURVIVE! line up below:
SURVIVE! Essential Series:
Designed from the ground up to be highly manufacturable, the Essential Series is our new high performance, no frills offering. By optimizing these designs for speedy machining and limiting the available options, we’re able to offer a high quality cutting tool at a tremendous value and without the long wait. Utilizing premium CPM-3V or CPM-S35VN blade steels, expertly hardened by Peters’ Heat Treating, these knives are just as hard working as their SK and GSO Series counterparts and carry the same lifetime warranty.

The first Essential Series production runs are currently available for a limited preorder. Getting involved means a discount for you but it will also allow us to ramp up production by making as many knives as possible on this first run, without detracting from the GSO Series production. These will be in your mailbox in 3-4 months, that's January to February. Yep, they are that much faster to manufacture!
Preorder Available Here
SURVIVE! SK Series:
Based on our popular GSO Series designs, the SK Series is becoming our premium production offering. This series features top notch materials, a precise fit and finish, and a wide assortment of handle and sheath options. By adopting more scalable finishing methods these knives will be more readily available and have shorter lead times compared to their GSO Series counterparts.

SURVIVE! GSO Series:
Following an uncompromising craft approach, these knives will continue to be individually finished, with meticulous attention to detail at every step. With a wide assortment of customizable options, microtextured handles, and available peened blade finish, these are the very best we have to offer.
How does this affect preorders?

By transitioning the bulk of our future production numbers to the SK Series and Essential Series, Guy will be able to focus solely on fulfilling GSO Preorders. We will have all GSO Series Preorders shipped by the end of 2020, though we are striving to have them fulfilled within the next 9 months.

Even though upgrades like the peened finish and microtextured handles were not available during the original preordering, we will still be finishing out all existing GSO Preorders as GSO Series knives. If you are more concerned about delivery timelines than individual attention to detail, we strongly encourage you to send us an email to have your GSO Preorder changed over to an SK Series equivalent.
