Survive! Knives Forum Closed - What Changed?

Not open for further replies.
As I've mentioned before, we answer every email and every phone call from folks who contact us. That is the best way to get information about your specific order. When I try to address issues in threads like this there is never going to be a "right" answer other than "everything is shipped." Since I can't wish knives into existence, it does take time to make them. We know we are behind. You all know we are behind. It took some time to get things lined up and to get settled in down in Meridian, but if you look on our subforum, instagram, or happen to be part of the SK group on facebook, or have read the newsletter, you can see that people have been getting their knives. Our backlog had been on the decline since I started tracking it every week, but with the increase in output lately it is definitely speeding up that decline. Having an S!K subforum or not doesn't change our plan to keep delivering orders as quickly as possible.

I will still be checking in to the forums and am happy to interact with our customers here. However, I have no interest in being a whipping post for the many folks who are just looking to poke the hornet's nest, which is what a lot of this thread is.

Ellie, Guy has made you into his shield and it looks like he doesn’t have your back. I would suggest to Divorce him now and get your piece before this gets ugly.

"Millit" (as it's proper spelling) suggests that they currently do not have anything to do with Survives BS practices. I could be wrong. If you feel the need to work your way up the chain ad nauseum to possibly get an answer, then feel free. My opinion is that Millit (notice my spelling there) is just a subcontractor that had no clue about the bigger picture about being part of a company who is a complete failure.

If you're hell bent on taking a company six feet under, none of us are stopping you. However, I think you're jumping the gun a wee bit too soon...

Well I certainly appreciate the correction to the spelling of Millit (notice my spelling is correct this time). Not working anything up the chain and not sinking anyone (there has already been enough language in this thread from others as well as back on the SK sub forum for that), just simply stating they (SKs) are to an extent heavily tied into Millit's operation (or vise versa) and as Casino mentioned they are both located in the same town and most likely adjoined at the hip per say. In the meantime I haven't received any correspondence yet but will relay any update I get so others can be informed.

After reading a few posts in both Millit's and S!K's Instagram feeds, it appears that S!K actually moved into the Millit shop and that they are using each others equipment. To the outside observer, it would appear that the relationship is a little closer than supplier / customer.

I can't see any value in involving another knife maker whom is merely renting equipment/performing work. Survive! Is more or less done. There are a multiplicity of threads and now even a deceased subform left in their wake as evidence of their downfall and misdeeds.

At this point, they are at least producing some knives so that those vested can be made a fraction of what would have been whole and of course they have the option of requesting a refund.

By involving Millit and associating their name with Survive!'s all you're managing to do is besmirch the name of a reputable maker, unduly, and hinder the process of those wronged being made right. It's not as if Millit is helping then word future preorders, they're helping them to so what should have been done to begin with. I find no issue with that.

They are busy burning through the pile of insurance money from the mysterious hotel in nowhere fire. When that runs out your likely to see a final run or two of 'new models' which will basically exhaust all of their avenues for funding as their biz model reaches it's inevitable end followed by an implosion while they attempt to ride off into the sunset.
If you have money 'invested' in Survive and would like to see it again, now would be a great time to think about getting it back while they still have the cash to do so. Remember, they had to borrow money from a private investor to cover refunds once already. Paypal froze their account so don't be last in line to request a refund.
Their residency in Kellogg, Idaho, definitely left a “burning impression” with the small town folks there.
Moving 500 miles to Meridan, Idaho, may or may not leave that past behind them.
Weaving a path of destruction, lies, and broken promises; I agree that now would be a good time for members to get their money back.

Millit has openly associated themselves with S!K. Millit has promoted the work that they are doing for / with S!K on social media. Ellie has promoted their association with Millit to add legitimacy to (what they claim is) S!Ks next new product launch. They even took deposits and upfront payment for knives that they claimed Millit was going to be making.

The exact nature of the relationship between S!K and Millit is unclear. However, my opinion of Millit plummeted as soon as I learned that they were working closely with S!K. I think that many others had the same reaction. I cannot see myself buying from Millit (or any product produced by Millit) as long as they are this closely associated with S!K. YMMV.

As far as I can see, Millit’s last IG post relating to Survive was from half a year ago

ETA: just saw post from May where they were making room for S!K in their shop.

Ahhh, well that's new information, for me at least.....certainly changes things. If they are in anyway promoting S!Knives, they're unequivocally guilty by association. Looks like I'll be doing the same.

Why in the world would they do that? I run out of burning building...not in.

My thoughts exactly. It would be interesting to know all the financial, contractual and ownership shenanigans that are taking place in the background.

^ AFAIK, it is structured as an LLC so you can only do searches to find out about its members and the Managing member. Otherwise, it's a privately held outfit and the only way you can be privy to any financial information / structural details would be as a lender / creditor / business partner or if their bookkeeper / CPA. Otherwise as a member of the general public, you may only find out some info which you seem to be interested in, if they should file for bankruptcy protection.

All the speculative stuff aside, those who still have preorders with Survive! and feel even more anguish and angst about their money, specially ever since their subforum has been archived on Blade Forums, ought to seriously consider pulling the plug on the preorders and asking for a refund right away. If Survive! should manage to turn things around, they can just buy the same GSO variants offered as S!K when supplies become readily available.

Great suggestion and what I would personally do.

I'll post some feedback to some of my inquiries when I get a reply from Jordyn, I feel they basically just used the same language from the first Friday updates on some status's of my orders. The 3.5 updates have virtually been unchanged for months now.

I was surprised that Millit got involved with SK too. With their other collaborations (Hawks, TAD, Massdrop, et al.), Milllit is seemingly in the position to become THE go-to US-based midtech OEM. I HOPE that they don't get smeared with the Survive brush.

As for me, I'm not going to jump to a decision without knowing more about the relationship between Millit and Survive.

Does anyone follow BlackScoutSuvival on IG? He has posted many videos over the years on his YouTube Channel reviewing, testing and promoting Survive Knives. The latest IG post hints at launching a collaboration with Survive! tomorrow. I could be wrong, but the photo looks identical to a Survive Knife. I’ve been waiting 15 months for my knife and would disappointed if they put this project in front of all the pre orders!!

That's a great tip! I haven't followed BSS ever since I lost interest in S! circa June 2016 but yes that knife looks eerily similar to a GSO. TBT, whatever is going on does not inspire a lot of confidence on many levels but primarily because of lack of transparency from Survive!.

Ellie, are you releasing a collaboration with the instagramer BlackScoutSuvival? Yes or no?

@SURVIVE! Ellie

Never watch this Black Scout, but looked tonight. They are promoting their own knives, and they look very non S/K! May not post links here, but a Google of BlackScoutSuvival video knife OR knives reveals many promotional videos of their Black Scouts (is that "BS"?) ultimate knives, all tactical, combat ready and many non-ferrous, non-magnetic, and guaranteed not to rust.
