Survivor TV show/knife....

I watched "Survivor" tonight, and for the first time in any of the episodes I've ever watched, noticed one of the guys (Ian) wearing a sheath knife. I've always been disappointed by the lack of interesting cutlery on the show.
 
If someone on that show ever figures out how to scrape the magnesium off the block instead of just using the sparker I think I will drop of a heart attack.

Would be nice if someone actually hunted for a change or tried some simple traps.

Painfull to watch.

Yeah, Michael Sculpin took out a small boar with a fixed blade....that was about the coolest "knife" moment in the history of the show....of course he was also the one that had to leave cause he passed out and fell face first into the campfire?????

Did anyone catch the hunting knife that Stepanie (before she was booted) was using to cut up some food with????
 
I bet the knives are low cost local made stuff. The machetes are probably much better quality since that's the main cutleryu for the locals.

Seems every contestant is allowed a personal item or two. I have yet to see even ONE Swiss Army knife on any of the episodes. Perhaps they're not allowed?

Yes, they are allowed one personal "comfort type" item, but personal knives are not allowed.

If they were you would see me on there with a Swiss Champ XLT!!!

Its a game show! People in real survival situations don't see how long they can stand on the end of a log! Austin Powers is not a real spy,and these folks are not in any real survival situation.

It fun to watch, I'm in two "pools",we get togather with the neighbors and have parties on Thur. night.Nice break from the routine,but its watched to see who wins challenges,who switches sides,who plays the people the best,who looks best in a swimsuit.Not who can trap animals or make fire.

The knife seemed to be along the lines of Schrades Golden Spike.
 
I would assume they intentionally pick most people with little survival experience. It is not like the vast majority of people could be productive if you asked them to cut a piece of wood with a machete or axe.

i remember tactical knives running an article on that fighter knife in the outback i think :confused:

i too am really tired of the machetes
 
id like to see them let them use personal knives for one reasion, rust.

i think it would be funnier than hell if several of them would have got to bring personal knives this year. that first "swim" in the water would have rusted them solid. it would have been nice to see one of them with a pacific salt or something truely rust proof setting on a log laughing at the sheeple and there el cheapos.
