The Swamp Rat Ratmandu Knife is available on the Swamp Rat website for $158.95 plus shipping which is an incredible value for a super tough knife that is comfortable in even a large hand and made from SR101 steel.

Other Swamp Rat models can be found on the exchange and are also a great deal.
Just picked up a beater Rodent 6 that was stripped and blasted.
Going to put the Rodent 6 on the sharpener and see what it can do. It really feels great in the hand.

Yep, I have been saying this for a while now, as I’m sure many other fans of the Bussekin here have been as well.

People who don’t know Busse act like they are so super overpriced, but the fact is, INFI is expensive to produce, but worth it. Then if you take a look at the swamp and the yard, you see the awesome value proposition of these blades with a different, but still incredible, steel.

Personally, I think if you look at the yard, how awesome the blades are although lacking some of the frills of the hogs and rats, you can see what is probably the best value for performance you can get in a blade.

Rat value is incredible too, however. I have a lot less rats than hogs, but I suppose that’s mostly just cuz there are less models to buy. I sell hogs fairly often, but so far I don’t think I have sold a single rat. Ok, except for one Camp Tramp, which was an awesome knife that I somewhat regret having sold, actually.

Great post. I have knives encompassing all of Bussekingdom. From expensive and rare Busses’ to pretty common Scrapyards. All great in their own way, and one should have a well rounded collection.

The one that gets used the most for mundane yard work such as downed limb stripping? My beater Battle Rat. Thanks - Brendan - for the great deal a number of years back. Have a great weekend all.

nope my friend, I snatched a rodent 3 & a scrapivore from you, apparently the pain of loosing them is so unbearable, that it triggers a specific amnesia as a biomechanism to cope with it ;)
that little rodent is in my prized possession now :D

I am a fan of swamp rat knives as well and use my ratweiler a lot. Still get the great ergos of the busse micarta but at a little bit of a discount. I think the CG busse's have overshadowed the swamp rat knives a little bit.

Recently picked up a ratmandu and it's every bit as good as people say. I think busse's are pricey even though I will pay the price and I think the ratmandu is one that is more competitive with everything else out there like an esee, LT Wright, Falkinaven, etc. for the high end 5-6" all-purpose woods knife.

Lmao! Ok, you got me on the R3. The Scrapivore doesn’t count against what I said though, as it’s a dog. :p

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the R3 though. I guess it survived the submersion into all that mineral oil, lol.

Andy, looks good. What sharpening degree did you use ? Trying to decide on an angle for the R6 for overall toughness.
...... I use a WSKO and it is down around 17degs. I mostly use this for skinning and taking meat off bones. I did my R6 around 20 degs.
