Swiss Army Knife: Most Useless

What do you think the most useless Swiss army knife attatchment is. I'm saying the grocery bag holder or the fish scaler. They really would have put a plier in there.

as with any knife that does 40 different things, it doesn't do any of them particularly well

Bad knife, bad saw, crappy useless magnifying glass, phillips screwdriver that strips screws... and it just goes on and on

give me one good Becker knife, and a fire starter, and i'll be a LOT better off than would someone with the best SAK on the planet in any survival situation

I agree with those two, as well cork screw (don't drink so I've never used it), toothpick (who uses a toothpick multiple times?, though I do use it clean lint out of the knife occasionally)

After so many threads, and posts, which laud the SAK as necessary EDC material, it's interesting to see a different opinion.
And, no, I don't ache for one, but different strokes.

I don't find the SAK to be useless at all, in fact, my Victorinox Compact is the most used knife I own. I've done all these things below with it (most quite frequently in fact):

Knife:
Cut open boxes
Open mail
Scrape tape off windows
Cut electrical tape
Peel Orange
Cut paracord

Scissors:
Cut threads and tags off clothing
Cut medical tape and gauze
Cut paper
Cut gum out of Daughter's hair

Combo tool:
Used as a scraper for gum and candy off floors
Used as a prybar on windows and screen door
Flat tip screwdriver used on Knife pivots (like Emersons), light switch and oultlet plates
Open beer bottles
Open can goods

Corkscrew:
Open wine (like me wine!)
Remove knots from paracord

Mini screwdriver:
Eyeglasses (what a surprise)
Battery holder on small toys

Hook:
Used for carrying milk in grocery bags (not really convenient but does save hands)
Grabbing speaker wires from behind the couch
Makeshift coat hanger
Removing pot from camp fire

Straight pin:
Unclogging the holes for the windshield wiper fluid on the car (great lifesaver when they are frozen).
Impromptu replacement for pants button!
Help removing deep splinters
Lancing blisters

Ink Pen:
Used all the time! (I loose pens faster than lighters!)

Tweezers:
Removing ticks
Removing splinters

Toothpick:
Clean lint out of knives (as an above user stated)
Clean crap out of keyboard

Does all these jobs quite well for me.

To be honest, the least used tool on my SAK is usually the blade itself! Since I have other dedicated cutters on me at all times

the alternative is you suddenly find the need to unscrew or saw or open a corked bottle and all you have is a $600 tactical knife. :D

Let me begin by saying these knives are pretty useful. I don't know why anyone would complain about the saw, that thing is a mini-beast, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more useful little saw for its size. Its probably the most heavily used tool on my swiss army knife.

as far as useless/meh

Corkscrew - I've only had to use it once and it was far from ideal. I guess i'm spoiled from using the leverage/pry function on $3.99 store bought ones.
Can Opener - If I was innawoods opening cans i'd probably just use a locking knife blade.
Magnifying Glass - Too small of an objective to really see and do anything with. Takes a long time, full sun at high noon and very steady hands to start a fire with it. Better than nothing, but yikes!

I disagree in every respect. The blade cuts like a scalpel, the saw works better than not having a saw, the magnifier certainly magnifies, . . . you get my point. But differing opinions are what make the world go around, I guess. Well, that plus some combination of gravity/mass/inertia/centripetal force and some other good stuff.

Its hard to beat the hook as the most useless SAK tool. But the corkscrew and fish scaler do.

Use the "parcel hook" to tighten a wire loop - it's quite amazing at that task.

As far as I'm concerned, a SAK is the BEST "knife" going.

I keep my SAK and my hobo tool in my fun bag, but I carry a multi-tool.

Least used, the tweezers.

Couldn't agree more! I don't even include SAK blades in my "on-person knife count". I just never use them.

Personally I think SAKs are good introductory EDC tools, but if you find yourself using any given tool on it more than once a day it's probably time to get a dedicated tool for the job.

The hook is one I've never used. It is good that it can twist wire, too, but I wait for my first time of needing to do something and realizing that the hook is just what I need.

Fish scaler and cork screw imo.
But I suppose if I were on a picnic and forgot the cork screw I'd be happy if my SAK had one now wouldn't I?
I love my SAK. I carry a standard Tinker every day at work along with my BM585 and I have the mini-Tinker for occasions where smaller is better but I still carry the 585 lol.

Has anyone seen the Gerber "tactical" multi tool? I recently saw it at Dick's and for $20 it seems a nice buy.

I double knot my shoe laces. The parcel hook is a great tool for releasing a jammed knot.

The funniest use for any of my SAK tools was the corkscrew. Walking home through the park one day, I passed three winos having trouble opening their bottle. Corkscrew to the rescue! They were so grateful, they offered me the first swig. :)

The saw is a part of my life. I spent a lot of time in Central Park and often saw vandalized tree branches. The SAK saw would clean them off quickly, and the knife would trim the edges smooth.

.....the last knife I'd ever get rid of. I use all the features on my Super Tinker regularly....OK, not so much the hook thingy.

Swiss Army knife ?....the one knife everyone over age 14 should own. But of course, YMMM.

None of the tools are useless to me. I have used every tool I have on my Swisschamp multiple times. Especially the awl, the corkscrew and the ultrasmall screwdriver attachment gets used a lot.
