I emailed this guy via his website to inquire about a knife I was interested in. He sells knife kits that you assemble yourself. However, some of his knives are advertised with photos of disassembled knives for very modest cost. Others are listed with photos of knives fully assembled at higher costs. So I asked if the knife I was interested in would be shipped assembled. Below is his exact response to me:

I do not want your business, you seem to not want to read. It clearly states KIT, if you do not wish to assemble then use the other website as stated. READ it does the mind well and makes you less uneducated.

I replied with a salty email of my own and it went back and forth a couple of times. I did a search and it turns out this JB clown has a sketchy reputation and a history of rudeness. Needless to say he won't be getting any of my business. Total toolbag.

I honestly must say that I have never heard of someone behaving like that before they has made the sale. I got angry just reading the e-mail. I plan on sending him an e-mail and getting the opportunity to go F himself.
in fact I think a whole bunch of us need to inundate this guy with as many negative comments as possible. I figure that if we do this enough he won't want to open his e-mail anymore.

I don't think that sending him hateful emails is necessary or even makes any sense. What's the point? Quite honestly it would be juvenile.
Ok so maybe he is a tool. You are not out anything, don't buy from him and move on.

Okay. I'm not sure why it made me so angry.
 
Johnathan Benson is a complete tool and whackjob.

He has several websites, had others, etc. One gets a bad rep, he might close it and make a new one.

He has been banned here repeatedly.

He got sued by Benchmade for selling counterfeit Benchmites. He tried to sue them back and lost. He's been ranting and raving about boycotting Benchmade for years now.

He's notorious for selling garbage and not fixing problems.

There are many threads about this guy here. Just search for his name, assistedknife, and roadsideimports.
 
hes always been that way. some here call him a psychopath. ive had fine experiences with him, myself. that said im one of the easiest and least demanding customers there ever was. i was also likely lucky. so never had to have any customer service, which he wont do basically. best to find a different dealer......no point in stirring up a hornets nest. only you lose in the end.

i do find his blunt harsh anti customer service and psoting on his sites humorous, but then again im not the customer who its aimed at. if i was i wouldnt likely find it so funny.
 
I also dealt with him, last year, and was impressed with the service I received.
He was really cool with me. Like you, JB, I'm very easy to deal with. He even sent me an e mail letting me know I was a pleasure to deal with.

^ Reading this response, kind of makes me wonder: exactly how things may have worked out, regarding your offer to help all of the unhappy customer's who had outstanding order's placed with the Eric Shepard/ShepardCC, as his go between liaison assistant/BF facilitator? ;)

I picked up some Ultratech parts from the site a few months ago and it took forever to ship.
Then for some unknown :rolleyes: reason my CC racked up a few grand worth of unauthorized nonsense charges within a few days of the order.
I almost never enter my CC info on a site, only link it through PayPal, but there was no option in this case and I got lazy trying to find the parts I needed.

It's going quite well thanks for asking. If I'm not mistaken you are not supposed to bring up subject's that the OP didn't even write about about. I forgot as to how many dealings you had done with Eric, oh I forgot it was zero. I just can't help wondering why you you are so obsessed with he and I. It seems that you and your buddies Joe and Gonebad manage to show up in every negative thread. Makes me wonder why you guys dedicate so much time to annoy and crucify people that you don't even know and never had dealing with. I actually prefer that you don't respond to this reply, I have already seen threads that you guys stuck your nose into and it's very repetitive.

No kidding. Some folks need to grow up. Most of us don't want to listen to the same old nonsense. Geessh.
Let's just deal with the facts at hand please.
 
The ones you have to "assemble yourself" are regular ones where he's removed the blade and put a new rivet, the blade, and the handle in a plastic bag. You have to put the blade and the rivet in, making sure you get the tolerances as perfect as you can. He does this to circumvent the laws regarding shipping autos which should in itself be an indication as to his character. He charges crazy money for "antiques" of questionable provenance as well as selling benchmade balisong copies. He's good for one thing, small parts, and even then know what you're buying and keep any interaction with him to a minimum.
