gentlemen, I'd like your recommendations for a good entry level sword cane with decent steel and sharp coming from the manufacturer. thanks.

Not sure if you'd call it "entry level" as they are not cheap, but Burger Knives make some truely fantastic sword canes! Worth taking a look at.

I have a cheap'ish doulble edged sword cane I ordered from Atlanta Cutlery for around $120, It's sturdy and quite usable as a real cane, and would do fine for thrusting but does not have sharp edges.

Cold steel has a similar type cane for a similar price.

I'm not sure if there are many affordable ones out there with good factory sharpened blades though....:o

I second the Cold Steel.Hate the Co but like some of their products and the sword cane they make is very tough and the scabbard is nearly indestructible and makes a fine weapon on its own.

I'm curious, why would you want a sword cane? Are you a collector, just think they are neat? What?

I can't answer for the OP, but as for myself I have always thought they were pretty "neat" for lack of a better word. I tend to like all kinds of sharp and pointy things in general, but the idea of a sleek and deadly blade hidden inside an unassuming walking stick or cane is kind of cool in a romantic kind of way.

I realize that they are quite illegal to carry most places, but I have been guilty of using mine more than once while nursing a rather serious ankle injury :o ...and while not as deadly a weapon as a good hand gun, they are still a bit more formidable than your average pocket knife in a self defense situation.

But mostly I am just a collector, and sword canes have a definate COOL factor. :)

This is a mindset that I can completely empathize with, trust me I've got a reasonably significant collection of sharp pointy things because they are "neat." I was curious about the mindset of our original poster though.

I'm here in the Philippines where there is currently an election gun ban which some liberals or do gooders want to make permanent. If this pushes through I'd like an alternate weapon that is concealable in plain sight that can be carried in an urban setting. The police here are just good for cleaning up after a crime and not much else. I'll worry about legalities after I hopefully survive being a statistic of the high crime rate. and I've seen the burger canes, quite pricey one too. i just can't lug around a katana hence, the advance research. thanks for the CS info.

I can certainly understand the sentiment. I'm curious though, are canes widely carried in the Phillipines? Here in the States obviously they are not, and you are more likely to attract attention with one then without.

I'm sure that with a total gun ban more people will be carrying sticks or canes used in stick-fighting. I don't think a pretty and well designed sword cane will attract that much more attention.

those look awesome but i guess they are way out of my price range. also shipping swords and knives to the philippines is banned until june, 2010. the CS ones are the ones that fit my price range so far. how much do those go for, by the way?

I hope that will still be available when this stupid ban lifts on June. the ban is actually for "firearms and weapons" whatever that means. But i don't want to take the risk of getting this confiscated. and Oh this was the one is the movie blind swordsman or something, right?

I'd suggest taking any sales talk to pm or email gentlemen. The administration around here takes a dim view of sales outside of the for sale forum.

To the right of the member's name you wish to message, you'll see a little circle. This will appear green if they are online, or gray if they are not. Click on this once and a menu will drop down. One of the options on said menu says "Send a private message to _______"

I'd also suggest editing your previous posts to remove information regarding potential sale. Leaving it up can still get you in trouble. ;)
