Sword mystery inscription

Mystery swords: totally worth two threads! :D

I think the better question is why Mecha isn't similarly inscribing his work. Perhaps "I HAVE been hardened dammit!" or "Iron-based alloys are so 14th century " :)

With my handwriting, any inscription would truly be indecipherable. :p

Mystery swords: totally worth two threads! :D

No doubt that there will be half a dozen and more in just this forum by the end of the year. I suppose a moderator could merge them all but what fun is that ;)

A lot of folk post via phones and tablets, so it truly can be easy to miss a similar thread a few lines down the thread index.

A perennial favorite is posting the Shop at Home katana breaking.

Cheers

Yes yes, and now we have the Tosh.O sword episode as well!

I saw this answer in a post on another site and I believe it's right. First of all it's a N not a R. and it's an acronym for a Latin prayer.
(in) NOMINE DOMINI CHRISTI OMNIPOTENTIS – CHRISTUS CUSTODIAT HONOREM WILLELMI,DOMINO NOSTRO GRATIAS HABENTIS – DOMINUS CHRISTUS, OMNIPOTENS REDEMPTOR, VINCIT (et) IMPERAT

Which basically translates to: (in) the name of the Lord Christ , the Almighty - Christ preserve my honor of William 's Son, our Lord grace to have the - the Lord Jesus Christ , Almighty is REDEMPTOR, Vince ( et) IMPERAT
