is there any law that prohibits me from ordering and keeping a decorative sword at home on the wall?
i plan to order from www.swordsonline.com and dont want the sword to be confiscated in the postal office
i heard swordcanes and ninja claws are illegal so i was worried i would lose my $150 order

Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum , i also wanted a opinion if that site carries good swords

Usually you can own almost any kind of edged weapon without breaking the law. Carrying it around presents different issues. Some items, like automatic knives, are specifically banned by some states or their shipment across state lines is restricted by federal law. Most states have exceptions for collectors. I doubt you would have any trouble. If you are really worried about it, ask your dealer if there are any NYC issues you need to know about. They should be able to tell you. Swordcanes are often illegal to carry, I dunno about mere possession.

The sword store you list carries mostly decorative swords that are not intended for function. Even under the "functional" listing most of them do not meet requirements. There are some by CAS Iberia (not all by them) and Paul Chen (most all of them) that are good for the money, but apart from that, you're dealing with decorator swords.

Hope that helps.

thanks , that was helpful
the only reason i am getting the swords is to put them up as decoration and meybe practice sword handling on a wooden one

Paracelsus, can the swords be confiscated in the mail when they are being sent to me?

I doubt it. It is the responsibility of the shipper to make sure that the package arrives, not yours. You should get your money back if the sword does not make it to you. I don't think the Postal Service or Fed Ex will care about a sword as long as it is properly packaged. Hopefully, this dealer is smart enough not to label the package in such a way that would invite theft. Again, the dealer should know if their are any special problems shipping to NYC, or by specific carriers. I really don't think you should worry about this too much.
