Hi all! Just curious if anyone has any experience with the tactical box subscriptions. My husband is an avid knife enthusiast and I know he’s been interested in the subscriptions. Just wondering if they are worth it.

I have seen videos on them. There are a couple different ones. Some look decent and others look like a gimmick.

Look up the cutlerylover reviews on YouTube for battlebox.
They seem to be the best most legitimate one, but just keep in mind that every item in the box each month can't always be a home run.

Hi and welcome to the forums. After watching many knife and gear type subscription box openings and reviews on utube, I've come to the conclusion they aren't worth it. You will get too much stuff you don't want or need. Packaging it up and reselling would be a pain. A big part of the allure seems to be the "gee what am I going to get!" but if you look at the products over time, too much redundancy and filler stuff thrown in.

If you want to spend $X amount per month on a subscription box, I'd let the hubby have a $X per month allowance for knives/toys. Is it as fun or mysterious as a subscription box? Maybe not, but he will get what he wants.

Good luck

I would also stay away from that kind of thing.
The reviews I have seen include many many super cheap items.
I would prefer gazz’s suggestion above!
Good luck!

Looked into BattlBox when searching for a gift subscription for my son. There are others as well.

It's $25, $50, $100 or $150 per month... or $300, $600, $1200 or $1800 per year :eek::rolleyes:

I watched dozens of "unboxing" videos. The were mostly underwhelming. I read hundreds of reviews, most warning me away.

You can get one hell of a gift certificate for the annual fee they charge, and the gift recipient gets to choose something that will get used.

Only aspect that might be appealing is the "surprise" factor every month, but I can't see it as adding THAT much value.

These "subscription boxes" are designed to maximize profit extracted from foolish customers. You might as well play the lottery.

Better yet just ask him what he wants.

As a subscription and means of getting things you want, it's objectively terrible. As a one-time thing, where half the fun is the surprise, it could be worth it.

Thank you so much...I appreciate the input. I had my hesitations because I feel like it’s more excitement than actually getting something that’s worth it....it’s a gamble. But at the end of the day I would rather have him have something quality, that he wants to keep.

Yes! Do you have any recommendations? I know he loves made in USA products.

What this guy said! That's wife of the year material there!

I occasionally buy a Man Up box from IQV8888. Mostly cheap stuff, but I like to support the YouTube channel.
