Picked up one of these on a whim.

For those of you who have owned one, what have you done to make the handle more bearable?

The ridges on the sides of the handle dig into my hands pretty badly.

A friend gave me one he didn't want any more. The handle is ridiculously uncomfortable, so I will eventually hit it with the belt sander until it's less obnoxious. If that doesn't work, I will remove the plastic and make a wood handle. I wouldn't put that much effort into it normally, but these aren't normal times and I am working through my project list.

That sounds interesting. If you don’t mind, I’d love to see pics of the final product if you decide to go with it. Low cost knives and swords are fun to modify.

I am thinking about getting an emory board and hitting the sharp corners on the fake wrap. It's just those corners that hurt when you use it.
Polypro is tough stuff and that is a LOT of handle to hit by hand. But we all seem to have a bit more time at home lately..... If you do break down and go the power route, try and use a crisp belt. Worn down belts heat the polypro and leave trails of melted swarf that have to be trimmed.

Thanks for the advice!

I don't have that particular machete but I own several other CS machetes. I usually wrap the handles in baseball bat grip tape, it works wonders. Gives you a secure, non-slip comfortable grip and is removable if you don't like it. Grinding is permanent.
