I know this isn't knife related, but my backpack has recently begun falling apart and I need to buy a new one soon. I thought it would be a good opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone and get a backpack I could use for hikes and camping, but also to take to school.( im currently 17 years old and enrolled in high school in California..)
I have my eyes on either a Maxpedition Condor 2 or the Vulture 2. Problem is I am slightly worried that I could get in some sort of trouble for having a "tactical looking" backpack at school. I have heard of kids getting suspended for wearing camo or anything military looking. Recently a friend of mine was suspended at his school for wear pants that resembled tactical pants! Not even the real thing and he was suspended.
I would really love to get one of them but I'm worried I might get in trouble.
Do you guys think I should just go for it?
Any parents/teachers familiar with their schools policies tell me what you guys think please.
All opinions are appreciated!
( if this should be in a different forum area let me know please)

Where in God's name do you go to school? I'm pretty sure it's not even legal to take disciplinary accretion against someone for wearing "tactical"(whatever that is)/camo clothes.

I know that camo is WIDELY worn at the high school I graduated from two years ago, and a "tactical" or "outdoors" backpack would either get absolutely no attention or attract praise from fellow outdoorsmen.

I'm actually asking, where is this stuff happening?

Exactly its crazy!
I live in Cali. Very nice area where usually non of this has ever been an issue to worry about but last couple months things have changed quite abit sadly.

I highly doubt any school in California has a rule written in their school handbook that says you can't have a tactical backpack. If they try to bother you about it then ask them where in the school handbook does it say tactical backpacks are not allowed.

Wow. I don't even know what to tell you man. I have hunted with my high school teachers. Like two or three. I mean, how tactical looking are these packs? I feel like you are the best judge of what's ok because I doubt (and hope) the attitudes are not going this way anywhere else.

Pennsylvania is a world apart from California.

Are there any teachers in your school you could ask? If you're that unsure I wouldn't take a chance.

Man, where has this country gone? (Don't respond to that. We don't want to get political here.)

And certainly a world different than Texas! You guys get to carry autos! Lucky

Its sad that I even have to worry about them suspending me for something as harmless as a backpack. I am gonna pick one up and hope I dont run into any of the radical teachers at school haha

Do you not have anyone aspiring to be in/commissioned in the military in your school? I mean, even super pc colleges have rotc programs. I know you are in high school, but still.

I never heard of schools banning camo and tactical backpacks.....I noticed that in the last couple of years camo clothes have gone mainstream and you usually see high school kids wearing camo stuff almost everyday.

I'd say go for it, as long as you don't have offensive patches or anything on it, it's no ones business what freakin' pack you you choose to buy or use.

I thought the same but some people have been suspended for wearing such clothes. I haven't heard of any cases at my school yet, but I just wanted to get some other opinions from my BF family.

5.11 Tactical makes some pretty good covert tactical backpacks. I have one of them that I use all of the time.

I wore a camo backpack for a year...MOLLE and all. No suspensions but plenty of weird looks! Oh well, people just assume I'm planning on going military and they don't ask questions.

I used a black tac pack in highschool, this was in CO, post columbine school shooting, and no one ever gave me crap about it.

I was in the Army ROTC when I went to college, and sometimes we'd have to wear fatigues to class if we had drills that day. No strange looks, but that then again, was 20 years ago.

No man, people at my college wear theirs like all of the time.

I am planing on buying one now. Just have to decide on which one.
thanks for the help guys much appreciated.

Maxpedition has some wild color options you could check out.
Khaki-Foliage kinda takes the edge off and still looks good.
Blue-Foliage, Orange-Foliage, EMS-Red, Safety-Yellow could get you by without shaking things up.
