Some (long) time ago I got the request from a forum member to build him a tactical sword which he designed. He send the design and I was pretty impressed by it. Although I never made a sword before I thought it would be a great challenge. At many moment I regretted this decision because making this sword was not as easy as I thought. This project challenged me many times.
The 26 sword is forged out of a 0.5 thick piece of O2 (1.2842) after which I selectively hardened the blade. The point, center and the bottom of the blade are a lower Rockwell than the cutting edge. The guard and pommel are made out of 1060 and given a black gunkote finish. Grip is green linen micarta and grooved. The balance point lies about 3 in front of the guard, making it rather lively. You can almost call this one a broad sword since the widest part of the blade is 2.8 wide.
All in all Im pretty pleased with the end result although there are many points that could be better.
Ok some piccies now:
