Tanto style blades, what's everyone's feelings?

^^ I agree - the modern "American" style tanto with a straight edge doesn't really do it for be. I like some belly on my blade. Here's another look at the more traditional style Shizuka, which I like very much:

Best looking mod I've seen on a Hold Out yet. You should post that awesome work on the Cold Steel subforum, there's many threads for this incredibly nice H.O.!
Congrats!

Not the most useful shape for EDC chore but when done right it does look awesome.

Lucky. You better post a pic or two of it in use to show how useless it is LOL. ;):p:D

Received a new Benchmade Mini Griptilian tanto this afternoon. Obviously haven't had it long but I put in pocket and used it for everything to double check its uselessness.

Cuts food for prep (even though I don't use pocket knives for that in general)

Did clean easy cuts on my charcoal bag for the bbq

Looks fine sitting beside my beer after watering the plants ;)

All messing aside, I appreciate that some people don't dig the tanto. Fair enough. But I've never felt limited by the blade style in my personal experience. All good, whatever you like.:thumbup:

I've got a Tanto framelock design that I'll finish up the drawings on here shortly -

Nice! I totally agree. Thanks for taking the time to share the pics - I love 'em!

Very nice grip tape job. What kind of grip tape and how did you cut it to make it look so factory?

It's called a GT-5000 grip tape. Has more of a rubbery texture than a sandpaper one. I drew the profile of the handle on a normal tape taped on the handle, then transfer that outline to the grip tape and cut it out. then it's matter of pasting it correctly.

Here are the WIP pic from my instagram:

I think tanto's are perfect for things like ripping open boxes or slicing a fabic like leather because you can use that tip.
