I love tantos, although they can be done badly. They get a bad rap thanks to corny people, but it will always be my favorite shape. Maybe I'm the cornball...
Side note: kwaiken, reverse tantos, and knives called "tanto" that do not have even a hint of chisel tip just don't do it for me. I know that traditional tantos are nothing like American stylee, but I feel like they've got to look at least a little like the end of a katana to count.
