Wait, how thick is the blade? Spydercollector's YouTube video says 5mm... ,!!!
That's nearly 1/5 of an inch!!! Gulp....
Indeed! It is 5mm thick. I got a shipping notice today. I am pretty pumped.

Same here. Looking forward to Monday.
Me too! I wish it would arrive saturday. Perhaps.
If the price comes down by about $60, I'll get out my credit card.
Please excuse my ignorance, but why is this so expensive? The materials used? It is a great knife, and perfect size for me, but awfully pricey.
I guess I answered my own question. Pretty tough to find titanium and XHP for cheaper
Alright, just got it. Fit and finish is spot on, nothing to
complain about from the Taichung production. Scales
match up evenly, blade centered, excellent bevels around
the ti scales and the blade grinds match- just a top notch
production piece as far as manufacturing goes.
Really like the stone-wash finish, with scales darker
colored than the blade. Visually, very appealing- part of
the reason why I bought it. The jimped blue g-10 is an
excellent touch.
Action for a new knife is okay, sticks a tad bit and there
is, upon opening, some grinding against the lock-bar once
the tang is released from the detent.
Oh, yeah, did I mention the blade is thick, beyond
hinderer xm-18 thick. Yet, spyderco sharp. Love the
ffg blade.
Good feel of weight in the hand and also feels good holding
it. No hot spots.
However, what's not working for me right now is opening it,
it's maybe the combination of it's small form factor and
the way it's designed around the pivot area. In the motion
to open it, the thumb slides against the angular edge of
the scale. Basically, not a smooth motion to open it.
Would probably like to have the cut-out on the scale for the
spyder hole to have been bigger or wider, as to a more
elliptical shape- not such a circular arc, to allow easier
thumb access to the thumb-hole.
Another point, not so easy to do a spyder drop as the
lock-bar is not cut out to fully reveal the spyder hole on
the lock side. The plus side to this is that the frame lock
is easier to disengage, more surface area for the thumb.
All in all, it should still be fun to carry, but wanted to like this
more than I do.
Nice little write up. Mine is about 40 minutes away lol. Does the locking face have a steel insert?
Thank, no steel insert on mine. Read your write-up as well, good job. Read that your jimping is flush with ti scale; the jimping on my g-10 are sticking up a bit- about one mm or so. I guess some variations.
Another note, out of the box, mine does have a very firm detent- part of the reason it's harder to open.
