TechStudio K01 Profile Sharpening System

I have been looking at all the different sections on this forum and I have back to the maintenance and tinkering section a lot and I have been watching the forums for about 8 months now and this section kind of makes me laugh because I don't think anyone has a clue about how the K01 and K02 really came to be,techstudio flat out copied or stole for a better term Efim Dreers design and copied it after he released his knife sharpener and most likely after seeing some of his early work.
Efim Dreer is from Canada and he was doing youtube videos of his different contraptions he made before techstudio ever came along and I remember watching his videos when I first playing around with guided systems like the gatco's and kme stuff at first.

I will say this about the techstudio stuff their sharpener looks more professionally designed and is far more attractive to look at where as the Efim sharpener looks more like there was no thought to styling but none the less the K01 and K02s are just copies of Efim Dreers hard work.

Here is one place where they are sold

I know for harder and more wear resistant steels you need to use a little more pressure when sharpening but I always try to use only the pressure that is needed to remove steel and try to have as light of a hand as I can, what I find is the springs that come with the K02 are soft for my liking and they deflect more then I want them to at times.

All over that suggestion Wade. Particularly after I looked closely at some of the Youtube videos. You can say "hey let the stone do (most of) the work" but there will always be someone who thinks a heavier hand is better...(even if its yourself on occasion! ;) )

I have come up with a way to make the new milled clamps work with the older cross bar. I will post a pic after I get done with the conversion. This will save me lots of time and money not having to convert all my fixing units and the crossbar.

Come see us at Blade Show 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. Tech Studio Profil will have a booth and S.T.A.T.E.S., LLC will be in the booth with them. We plan to give away a K03 Wranglerstar kit as a "door prize".

Awesome - I’ll be there and will stop by to check it out! Mind if I snap some footage and ask a few questions while I’m there?

Very interesting indeed - seems like TSPROF/TechStudio straight-up copied that design from Efim...that is pretty shameless on their part.

I'm curious how he (Efim) has responded to the TSPROF design and them profiting from his hard work and R&D?

Shaun,
Did you finish your conversion? I'd be delighted to see what you came up with.

Hi,
Well, I can tell you what TSProf told me three weeks ago, then what they told me two weeks ago and finally, what Paul told me on the phone call to me Monday of this week. Each time I was told the shipment was on its way. The first time caused me to send a large sum of money to them before they would ship.

I do believe that Paul is right this time when he says I should receive 50 kits + many accessories in 12 to 14 days. They will send even more kits so we can sell them at the Tech Studio booth at the Blade Show in Atlanta during the weekend of 31 May. Come see us!

That reminds me of some things when I was stationed in Turkey 40 something years ago. A promised date was more like a maybe.

Atlanta is out of the question for me, a little over 800 miles, and my wife is not up to riding that far, nor dealing with airline seats and the hassle there.

Yes, i did. I do need 2 of the steel knobs that are used on the other clamps. Any chance you have 2 or 4 to spare?
I will get pics later tonight. It works great.

I have some pics of the milled clamps I modified to fit the earlier model rail, but can not post them here. I can email them if someone wants to see them or post them for me.

Try using this site it works great for me https://imgur.com/ This site is also free.

Just use the link that called direct link and then come back to the forum once you have copied the link and then just click on the button with the mount and sun or moon in the picture if you hover over it will say image then you just paste you link into the box that appears.

If you need to resize the photo at all use avs image converter it's free works well and it couldn't be any easier with that program, ave image converter I great for shrinking the megabyte size of a photo without hurting the picture,if you try avs look below the slider bar where you can adjust quality and you can leave the slider bar at 85% it's fine, below the slider bar you will see a drop down box that say's original size click on where it say's original size and not on where it say's advanced then just choose the top option 9x13cm and then hit convert and just upload them to the site I linked here,it's very very easy to do.

Thanks for the info on posting pics.

I ground the lugs off to make the back end flush and square, the cut some 1/8'' aluminum to 5/8 x 7/8. Marked and drilled holes, tapped holes, then assembled. It is not very pretty, but it works great. It fit very tight, so I tapered the end of the aluminum pieces to help it slide onto the bar easier. I am actually surprised how well it works. This saved me from having to order and buy a bunch of fixing units and new cross bar just so I could use these milled clamps. The stainless screws cost about $3. I had the aluminum and the tools already. About a six pack of beer, and an hour and a half of time. The beer may be why it ain't a pretty job. Maybe this helps someone out.

I am open to tips, and suggestions. The modifications worked great, but everything can be improved upon. I just could not justify the expense and wait time to modify every clamp and the cross bar just to use the milled clamps.

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for not posting any new info here. From this moment i will try to share with you with all news and updates.
And here whats new:
Currently we have opportunity to make sharpener way more interesting by paint it in many different colors! Here photo of blue sharpener, but it can be red, green, or any color you want.

Also, we have increased our factory power few days back and now shipping will be faster!

That sounds nice. I would just like to be receiving the one I ordered via S.T.A.T.E.S. back in early Feb. Really don't care about the color, although that blue does look nice

Damn, it looks like you host your photos on a Russian porn site!
