I like the looks of this one. If you have one, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it; maybe even an in-hand pic, if you are so inclined.

It's tiny. That was pretty much my first impression. I think I was expecting something more along the lines of the Busse Game Warden - more of a full-sized handle with a small blade. The fact that I got a firesteel with it didn't help - the knife is smaller than the fire steel :) Next impression is that the blade/handle transition doesn't give much of a "guard". There isn't a whole lot of notch to catch your index finger.

Then I started using it. The blade geometry is good. It makes a nice little whittler. It also saw some use for food prep - good steak knife and on thinner foods, but length limits chopping/slicing options. It's more of a paring knife.

Overall, I like it. It's particularly suited for environments where you want a short/discrete blade (office, federal facilities) or as a folder substitute. The knife will definitely work. It is pocketable, and smaller than some of the large folders out there. If you want something you can wrap your whole hand around, you need to go up to a Woodland Special, at least. I'm considering pairing my Little Creek with a Highland Special, or possibly a Fox River.

The Lil' Creek was the very first Bark River I was interested in - before any other. It was a mere prototype then. I emailed DLT Trading to ask about them. They replied that they had contacted BRKT and there were no blades in their inventory. The only way to find them then was to find a dealer who might have one or two in stock. I couldn;t.

Since then, the Lil' Creek has taken off again. It's smaller than the mini-Canadian overall, but has a longer blade. THe blade is about 1/2" longer yet the overall knife is about 1/4" shorter. THis means less handle by about 3/4" inch. The steel thickness is thicker than the mini-Canadian.

Foilist: what is it you're interested in about the Little Creek? I mean, does the size interest you, or is it the shape, or is there a particular function in mind that you think you'd use the Lil' Creek for? The reason I ask is that there is the Bird and Trout, the Woodland, and the Mikro-Canadian (not MK-2) that are very similar (the Bird&Trout less so than the others).

Here's the Little Creek (top) and Mikro-Canadian in my hand. I usually wear a roomy medium or a large glove.

Tohatchi says, "It's particularly suited for environments where you want a short/discrete blade (office, federal facilities) or as a folder substitute. The knife will definitely work. It is pocketable, and smaller than some of the large folders out there."

He's absolutely correct! It makes a very nice EDC in places where you want your co-workers to go , "Oh, that's a cute knife!" rather than, "Oh my God! He's got a machete!!!"

This is my Little Creek. It has a special edition swedge at the top of it. By far one of the handiest and stoutest little knives I own. There is nothing dainty about this knife. A2 steel and very thick stock.

Thanks guys - my post about this this in the General forum got buried/ignored. There are lots of Barkie fans who hang around in here, so I knew you wouldn't leave me hangin'!

Stretch - I'm interested in the Little Creek as a pocket-sized fixed blade for general use, much as I use my Mini Canadian; sort of as an alternative to a folder, and usually paired with a multitool or SAK. As you well know, I'm very fond of my Mini C, but I would like just a tad more blade length, and a less pronounced skinner shape (less belly).

Foilist, if you end up ordering one, and it doesn;t come in on time, so you order another one, but then the first one comes in................. you'll then have two and you know me, I'll be happy to take one off your hands! ((( :D )))
Man, what a nice-looking knife! Why did I ever give up the quest for one? Good thread!

It's the "little big knife". A great EDC fixed blade and my all time favorite BRKT.

I'll have to control my itchy mouse finger!;) I'm glad you and your daughter are still putting that "extra" Mini C to work.

I had one briefly.
The handle was too short for my medium-large hand.
I now have a mini-canadian that I really like.

Sweet looking sheath Mike!

I have a question:
- Where did you get the eyelets to run the lanyard through?
I can find eyelets at, say, Tandy, but I'm looking for some that are long enough to run through two or three layers of leather.... the way the BRKT Sharpshooter sheaths have them.

stretch---- these came from a local leather shop here in santa cruz.... he gets almost all his goods from Tandy... these ones are fairly small.... you can get longer ones... i have yet to try pounding some of these through 3-4 layers of leather... that's on the list of things to get...
