Trying to test pillows, again, and using a Suprima pillow now (their newest one, medium to soft support, shaped like a kidney bean almost). Great for side sleeping, so so for face and decent for the back. A neck roll pillow is not very good for the face, though for my frame, the smallest size of neck roll that Tempur makes works. So, anyone use the Comfort pillow? How does it stack up for sleeping on the tummy, side, and then back? Does it lump up over time?

Is that the swedish memory foam/nasa foam pillow thingy? If so, my gf bought me one for the b-day a year or two ago and I've been using it ever since. Two height options depending on how the pillow is facing makes it great for side and back sleeping... Sleeping prone leaves some to be desired (too much height).

Anyways, using regular pillows just ain't the same anymore! :D

I use one of the contoured memory foam pillows. I think it's a Sealy Posture-pedic. It took me about 2 weeks to really get used to it. Once I did my neck pain went away for good.
For side and back sleep I use it with the larger roll towards me and flat side up. For stomach sleep I just wedge it under my hip any old way.

I can still sleep fine with other pillows but do prefer this one. The mattress is a diff. story. Temper-pedic for life!

I moved away from a memory foam pillow... I didn't really care for it. One thing I will say is they are hotter in the summer.

Buck, my problem exactly. I like the small neck roll or contoured pillow for back sleeping. Head has a valley and then the neck roll supports the neck. Kinda like bunching up the down pillow. Side sleeping same thing. But on my tummy, it makes my head tilt up.

Dont know if the comfort pillow helps. It is pieces of tempur pedic, not one whole slab and it is a regular shaped pillow. I think that it still is thick and would help a tummy sleeper if it was say half as tall in height. I thought the suprima would help as it has no neck roll and is their softest pillow according to the tempurpedic.com website. Maybe I just need to get used to it, kinda like trying to run a mile and getting shin splints the first time. After three weeks, you sorta get inured to it?

here is my issue:

While training myself to sleep entirely on my back, do I just get the neck roll pillow/cervical and deal with the less-than-ideal tummy situation. Or do I get say a comfort pillow that is not the best at tummy sleeping but will be easier, and when I sleep on the back, it has decent neck support, can be fluffed almost like a down pillow (I can hollow out the center and try to push the tempur material up under the neck to some degree) but will not be as supportive as the neck roll?

No real way to know other than to try both. I was given one of the comfort pillows long after I got used to the neck pillow. I didn't really care for the comfort one and never really gave it a chance. It just seemed to soft and fluffy for me but not in the way I'd like a good feather pillow to feel.
Of course, if it had been the other way around, I might still be singing the praises of the comfort instead of the neck pillow. As it stands now, I personally have no issues with the neck pillow so I'm happy. My wife uses the same type and seems to have no complaints either.

Hoopster, I take it you just sleep on your back? Once I get that way, sure, the neck pillow is it!!

But, until I can train myself, do I bite the bullet, get the neck roll and 'suffer" when I do get to my belly? Or has someone used the neck roll and slept on the belly? I can't seem to.

But the comfort pillow seems to be middle of the road- not ideal for belly but not bad, and not ideal for back, but not bad

Dont know which way to go

Actually if I was to guess, I'd say I sleep on my side 70% of the time, back 20% and stomach 10%. If that makes the info any more helpful to you. I don't use a pillow for my head when on my stomach though, only under whatever side hip my head is facing.

i am on the same boat here. i dont know where to start either for pillows. i get some major neck pains mostly related to tension and etc. the pillows i have at home keep my ass awake and i cannot find one i like.. any help would be greatly appreciated. i sleep on my my sides mainly. sometimes belly but hardly ever back bc of my snoring. the wife beats the crap out of me in my sleep when i crank it up lol

Well, I got the medium neck roll. I am between sizes on the chart at the website for tempur pedic. 5 9 1/2 and the cut off is 5'9" or 5"10" wife measured me at 6.5" neck to shoulder. So I have the 4 inch neck roll. Laid down with it and wife says neck is level. She has a Kohls brand and has had it a year. Less dense foam and so now that it has broken down, really soft compared to the TP. My neck feels great on it, but then after 5 mins, I notice that my head is higher than my neck, which means there is less support under the neck. I can also sleep face forward with her pillow. Guy at Bed Bath and Beyond told me that I could use the small side and turn it sideways a bit and use that for the belly and that aint bad. I think I prefer that than having my head elevated a bit and since the small part of the neck roll is thin, well, that is like the bunched up down. I will not be so quick to take this one back, and will give it a week.

I used tempur-pedic pillows for years and they really helped my neck/upper back problems. They usually lasted about a year and as you know are pretty expensive. I got tired of them wearing out so fast, and the fact that if it was good for on my back, it wasn't good for on my side, and vice versa. Last year I saw these at the fair- http://www.mypillow.com/ -and I haven't looked back. My wife likes hers too. Add in the length of the guarantee and the fact that they're washable (really- already washed ours lots of times) and I'm happy.

I'm surprised they only last you a year. Do you use the classic pillows or the neck ones? The mattresses have a 20 year warranty and I don't see how they could wear out. I've had my Sealy pillow for probably 3 years and it seems just like new.

Don't be afraid to try unconventional orientations. I use mine with the larger roll towards me/flat side up, for side and back sleep.

My wife and I have had the Tempur-Pedic Comfort pillows (and a Tempur-Pedic Mattress) for about 3 1/2 years. Her pillow seems to have been stuffed with a little more of the tempur material - it's a little firmer, and fatter, than mine. Mine is better. I keep telling her to undo the stitching and remove some of the filling on hers - she hasn't tried it yet. My point is that there can be some variation in the firmness, and pliability, between the "exact same" Comfort pillows.

I like the ability to bunch it up a little, somewhat similar to a feather pillow. I've tried the one piece foam pillows - Tempur-Pedic and otherwise - and do not like them. Regardless, we both love the pillows and mattress. Neither one of us is a stomach sleeper, though. Side and back only.

i love the reg. temperpedic pillows. it is pretty hard and doesnt roll up without pushing back! perfect for me on my back and side and it it certainly helps my neck relax. i am finicky so i go between that pillow and none at all. need to look into this neck roll.

i would really love to see something like a 4"x4"x8" long temper foam block to use as a pillo

Love my tempurpedic mattress but the pillow is just way too thick for comfort . Im a big fan of my 20 year old goose down pillows ! Never found anything better !!!

Sobakawa Cloud Pillow looks interesting. They have lesser similar versions at pharmacy stores. It just seems that it would be noisy, like sleeping on a bag of chips.
