Hello All,
I wanted to share my latest build, this is the first Bowie knife I've built here in Texas since moving from Idaho.
I forged the blade from 1095 high carbon steel and saw mill blade steel from a saw mill in Idaho. The billet has 348 layers, randomized/ stretched ladder pattern. Blade is about 10.125" long, edge is about 9.5". Just under 3/16" thick at guard, with distal taper.
Handle is curly Koa, tang is 4" into the handle, pinned and epoxied. I made the guard from brass stock.
It was a fun burl, as always a learning experience and a chance to try new things.
You can watch the knife being built from start to finish on the video series I made:
Thanks for looking!
