Texas toothpick of quality steel?

Everything I see is 420 or similar and this day in age that's just plain subpar to put it mildly.

Hoping for at least VG-10 or better. Any recommendations?

Thanks to you and this, I think I've found what I'm looking for. I prefer a shorter blade and overall length, but after seeing this I did some more Boker searching and found a few 3" in D2. Perfection as far as I'm concerned! Thanks so much!

Newer Queens toothpicks come in D2, I have one in Zebrawood. Older ones come in 420HC, ATS-34 (=154CM) or Carbon, depending on series.

There is also a GEC toothpick in Carbon steel.

Finally, Laguiole patterns are almost identical to the toothpick. Just bought one yesterday in 12C27 which is basically AEB-L (which I love).

Case/Bose Old Dog. $$$ though but uses premium steels
Thanks for the suggestion but that's extremely overpriced for basic 154CM in my book. Also too big, I prefer a close to 3" blade as possible. Perfect size to me.

And you know, the more I think about it, the more I've realized 2 things...

1. I kind of already have one in my Mnandi...Chris Reeves Mnandi Box Elder S45VN.jpg

2. The style is somewhat antithetical to my main criteria in a knife. Which is the ability to be used singlehandedly. I even had to add an aftermarket thumb stud to my Mnandi to achieve this, which kind of ruins the aesthetics as far as I'm concerned.

I do have one of the small Boker Texas Toothpicks on order, so we'll see if the thumb nick can be operated with one hand, but I'm in serious doubt of that, as I've never handled one that could. Might be adding another one of these unsightly studs... eek!

The Case Bose collabs may appear to be overpriced at first glance, but they have many details that Bose customs have. Bushing pivot, milled and relieved stainless liners (I’ve been told the liners are 154CM), excellent walk and talk, pinned shields, etc.

Ha!, was not aware that the Texas Toothpick is actually a fairly small traditional folder - nothing like the Arkansas Toothpick at all! Filed in the back of my mind for future reference.
