Rough riders arent bad if you are trying new patterns. Frost and steel warrior are the crummy ones. American schrade is a bit costlier but international schrade are of decent quality. Like many of us who love knives and come from various walks of life, funding is always an issue. Some folks are in the buy once cry once camp, some folks buy even a $15 knife just to get a fix in. Sounds bad when you put it that way but collecting and enjoying knives is a very wide ranging hobby. But Case isnt bad, its not what it once was. There arent many contenders with GEC still standing tho. Queen/S&M bought the farm awhile back, and CSC has risen in limited conditions, case still maintains market share.

Welcome to the forum, and happy soon birthday!

I've about 40 Rough Riders; all in 440A, all un-coated blades. I like simple old fashion slip joints. I think they are on a par with Case, but a lot less expensive. I've found they preform well. Good buy for the money.
