I had this over on the customs forum but thought some could appreciate it here

This custom is priced competitively with high end prouductions and is a tremendous value on a quality knife with tons of character

Plus with the many discussions on different locks this knife features a very old lock system that still works great today

Here is a video review of a Navaja I just received from a maker in Spain named Miguel Barbudo

I’m very impressed :)

Wow, that's a nice one. Something else I need to divert my coffee money for.....I like the updated take on a traditional design, and that handle looks just right for the way I tend to grip for most tasks. Thanks for sharing the maker's skill

Thank you

It does feel great in hand

Thats a beaut.

Sadly I cant abide thumb studs.

Spyderco should do a collab with Barbudo and this knife as part of the 'Spyderco ethnic series'

I like it Joe, what's the blade length? 4+ inches?

Looks like a strap lock.

That is a really great looking knife. Will have to check out the maker.

Cool. I was familiar with the Spyderco by Schemmp, but now I get it...how it fits into the ethnic series.

Not my style, but for some reason I do like the way it looks.
It's just simple enough to achieve the style they were after without being over the top.

It can't beat traditional beauties. Sorry.

Knife is not bad, maybe without that thumb stud could be better.

Whilst I understand, that the 'bulbous' (for lack of better words) blade is a traditional shape and that Im most likely in the minority with my lack of fondness for thumb studs, I must admit, that I like this Barbudo knife a tad better - he makes some sleek and great looking blades:

This is also sleek and good looking (assume he has the right to use the hole):

Barbudo also makes a mean fixed blade - I quite like this:

I love the traditional pieces and have some but the problem is the quality

Coming from good Knives the classics lack quality at times

This knife locks up tight as a drum is perfectly centered and the lock is tight

He does make a more traditional looking variant

Thx Stab :)

This one is a keeper

I’ve always loved Navajas but was just unhappy with the quality I was finding

Scout I have one similar to this ordered with Fighting Bull horn and a custom black Crossdraw sheath from his Leathersmith

Only change is blade is a tad bit shorter and I’ve requested a tapered tang

Fully understood.
I have noticed a lack of what I would want quality-wise too, so it's good to see that going the custom route can get the desired level of quality.

Nice pick-lock.
