This ONE-TIME-ONLY run, is Coming Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 9:00pm Eastern on all three Busse Knife Group websites: Busse Combat, Swamp Rat, and Scrap Yard.

The Bad Rattitude is the first Lab Rat out of the gate. With nearly the same specs as the legendary RatManDu this model is made from American 50100B ball bearing steel made by Sharon Steel.

This knife features a stonewashed .180" thick Urgent Fury style blade with a black canvas micarta handle and a generous choil that allows for choking up when doing fine work.

Coming in at 59-61 Rc for both toughness and excellent edge-holding, this 5 1/2" blade weighs in at only 8.6 ounces! It has a balance point directly over the index finger, making it a very fast and effective fighter, day-hiker, or camp knife.

Think I'll pick one up, I really like the shape. And I'm curious about the steel. And now I have some shop credit so I can justify the purchase.

If you’re curious about the steel, you need only look to Becker knives from the Camillus era, Cold Steel knives with the old “Carbon V”, Marble’s “Malachite” and a quite few others. It’s a really old alloy that’s had a lot of names…and an excellent one in general for knives. Now, lest any of you think that means this is less-neat, keep in mind that alloy is the first half, heat treat is the next. I remember the torture pics of the original Swamp Rat D2 line; I had NEVER seen D2 take that kind of deformation without basically shattering, but it was still hard and held an edge like D2 is supposed to. Very interesting to see what new dish they’ve cooked up out in Ohio.
Edited to fix a very stupid spelling mistake.
🙂
