This just some praise for the pen blade on Classic sized 58mm Victorinox SAK's. For my daily carry, I have found that it is the perfect size for 98% I normally use a SAK for during an average day in suburbia. It cuts the jute twine that stops the sunflowers in my backyard from tilting. It sharpens the little pencil I carry daily for taking notes. It cuts the credit card sized sheets of paper that I make from regular A4 copier paper as makeshift 'notepad'. It opens the boxes delivered to my doorstep. It opens my regular mail. It can even cut up a box if needed. It is small and thus non threatening in public places. Above all the thin blade stock takes a wickedly sharp edge that is very easily maintained. It's amazing what can be achieved with just a few cm of very sharp steel. To those who never really cared for the pen blade on a 58mm, I'd say give it a try 👍

Exact reason why Classic is the most popular product from Victorinox, not to mention there are scissors/nail file(which could be used as a driver in a pinch)/toothpick/tweezer too!

Preaching to the choir here!

From 1995ish to 2019, the humble little classic was my most used knife/tool. It rode on my keyring in a leather pouch sheath that made it quick and easy to take out and use. It cut open packages, boxes, infernal plastic blister packages that defy tooth and nail, trimmed stray beard and mustache hairs, plucked splinters from hands and stickers from dog paw pads, dealt with small and medium Phillips screws, trimmed fishing line on vacation in Key West, opened lots of cold beers with the SD tip, sharpened the golf pencil I carry to make notes, cut lots of jute twine in the garden to hold up the pepper and tomato plants, and a zillion other things.

The mission capability of the little classic should never be under estimated. Teamed up with a bantam or cadet, its a powerful and versatile duo. Theres very very good reason the classic is the worlds most popular selling pocket knife.

It was my grandfathers pocket knife of choice, and I have great respect for this little blade.
The overall package doesn't work for me as a pocket knife, but the blade itself is great.

The TSA steals millions of them every year and they're dirt cheap on Ebay, I have thought about making a regular pen knife out of it with properly proportioned frame but I don't have the skill.

Out of curiosity I did a comparison between the small blade on a 84mm SAK and the blade on a 58mm SAK. Turns out both blades have the exact same length. Of course the one the 84mm has a fatter belly.

And just think, the classic gives you more blade than the average box cutter/utility knife that is one inch total.
