Do you do any other colors??
I have to pick between black, brown, and mahogany... and possibly 'natural'. Only dye I've tried so far is mahogany.

Nice thread idea, hopefully people join in. If i had dyed micarta, i would.

That bk18 looks perfect stripped with that micarta. Really liking the green micarta on the 11 too.

Very nice daizee.

Question, do you do anything to lock the Fiebing’s color in? I ask because I used Fiebing’s maroon on my first BK62 wood scales. As soon as they got wet the color bled everywhere. I wound up having to polyurethane it. The one on the left...

Good lookin' set there!
Yeah, the Fiebing's probably isn't the best dye for this, but this is the second set and I modified my process:
* 2 coats of dye, leave for 24+hrs
* tried Turtle Wax on top, buffer to clean up. Didn't really do it.
* hit 'em with some sno-seal and then left them out in the sun for several hours

That seems to be doing a pretty good job now.

What I want to avoid is using the sheen finish that I use on leather, as that might be weird.
Ultimately I'll probably move to RIT dye if that works better. I think the hot water process is a good idea, if it doesn't warp the scales. And if it DID, I'd expect it to warp them concave on the inside, which would be the best way, as the hardware will hold everything down tight.

I’ve never had my scales warp; then again, I only bring the water up to where steam starts coming off of it. I’m very careful to not let it get anywhere near boiling.

Are y'all making/shaping your own fauxcarta handles or are undyed micarta handles available sonewhere?

They are brand new, about a month from kabar....check out their website. I don't have them for my two 62's yet....but trust they are good!!!

But do you like red though?

Just kidding man, looks great.
Thank you, Dubz. With this last round, I have added those Dyed scales to every Becker I own (excluding duplicates). BKs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,29, and 62. I might have forgotten to list something. Been meaning to do that for a while now. A group pic will be coming over the next few days.
