Hello. I just discovered Mora's newest knife. It is their toughest yet. Check out this video I made about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR8sVUQ1dwY

Specifications:
Blade: 3 7/8 (10.16 cm)
Blade material: Carbon
Spine: 1/8 inch thick (3.2 mm)
Weight: 4 3/4 oz (135 grams)
the Handle is also larger than other Moras.

I think this would be the best Mora yet for the wilderness and hard use .

The price really is the best upgrade because you get all the top features of Mora knives: good steel, sharpness, lightweight, durable all weather sheath, and even better toughness with an 1/8" thick blade. All of this at $15 USD.

I have other high qaulity knives Rockywolf that cost between $30 to $160 USD. I can leave those at home and go camping without fear of losing or messing up one of my nicer small knives.

I think my perfect small knife search for hiking/camping is over .

I love Moras. You get a lot for your money.

I wonder what the tang construction is like. I assume it is 3/4 length.

Given the thicker blade, the grind terminates about the same height as the thinner Moras, giving it a thicker profile. Probably not a great slicer, but looks like a tough customer.

Thanks for letting me know about this knife.

Oh, now I know what I forgot to put in the video.

Slicing a tomato or an onion should have been done to see if the thickness would be a weakness in food preparation. Thanks dogstar maybe I'm do an addition video .

My pleasure, Esav Benyamin. This would serve you well as a main knife on a hike or as the companion knife to a machete or Khukuri. Every review I have seen written about the Mora Robust knife have given it 4 to 5 stars. The rough unfinished spine and the plastic sheath may put off some but those keep the price low and affordable. All and all I think this is going to be my "the knife" to use.

Above picture is the Hultafors GK. I think the Robust was developed to take it on. Similar the the German Panther tank of WW2 was designed to stop the Russian T34. OK, maybe I'm stretching that comparison a little but I think you get it.

I don't get out the way I used to, so a basic utility knife is more fun to carry and use than the heavyweights I used to like. I have carried my army green carbon steel Clipper in the past though.

The peg on the front of the new sheath is interesting. I've seen similar on larger knives, to be carried under a belt or inside the waistband, with the peg holding the sheath from slipping down.

Let's not get into deal spotting. Any source named in a discussion forum would have to be a paid Bladeforums dealer.
A Google search will turn up a few, or you could check dealers you're familiar with.

How long the tang is in the new Mora Robust? This is the hot question now for the new Mora Robust. I,m at work now (on my break) so I'll try and find a magnet at home latter. If I have one I'll let you know about the tang right away.

Below is a sad but sure way to check tang length :(. Top Knife is a Triflex.

But no matter what, the Robust is the best value for the money I've ever had for a knife.

From top to botton:
1. Bushcraft Triflex 4 1/4" $30 USD
2. Craftline Allround (Stainless) 3 7/8" $14 USD
3. Bushcraft Forest 4 1/4" $34 USD
4. Craftline Chisel Knife 3" $17 USD

Note: The picture of the cut in half knives is not my own.

I've been shopping for Mora knives over the last few days but haven't seen this one yet. Looks like it will fit the bill perfectly. A lot of the places I camp and hike are family friendly, and it will be much more appropriate than a 6 inch tactical knife hanging from my belt and it will still be a good size knife when I'm off in the wilderness without having to worry about other people

Try battoning with the above knife.
I agree with you about the Rambo inspired tactical knives. They are military knives designed first for combat and second for utility. Most of these long 7, 8, 9 inch blades are not really practical. In my opinion a 3 to 4 inch Mora, fallkniven f1, Bushlore, etc.) together with a machete, Parang, Kukri or other good quality big chopper would work for all your outdoor needs. My large knife goes in the pack and the small one on the hip when I'm around others.
Note: my very important folding saw is always with me.
