Rather than drag up the original, I thought I'd start a new one. Again, the general purpose here is to show early patterns and obscure handle materials. Everyone is familiar with the UH and OT lines, but Schrade / Imperial had a huge "open stock" offering, and some of the finest pocket knives of their time. They also used alot of stainless steel early on, and aluminum in their handles. Real "cutting edge" stuff. ;)

Here's a couple to kick this off...

I saw this one on ebay and had to have it. It is a Schrade Cut Co., and the closest match I could find was #2424 3/4, 3 1/8" closed. I don't know how I would classify the handle type. What is the difference between Celluloid and Pyralin anyways? The pic does not do the handles justice...

The other look like a 2153EO, 3 3/8" closed, also a Schrade Cut Co.. Again, I find no reference to the handle material type. A stout piece with nail-breaking half stops...

Okay, who's next with show and tell...

hi, this is my first post, but i did get a schrade 834 for christmas! it has the jigged handles (plastic?), and i think its the 3-blade rancher. it has the shield on fron that says schrade. nice knife. i also carry a schrade old timer, 1940t. its edge is everlastng i think!!! i had to order it online because here in the upstate of sc all u find are the "new" old timers. i couldnt bear to purchase one of those!!! anyway, this is a great site with wonderful info and ver friendly people!

welcome, fireman. You will also find that we like to talk about other things on this forum besides schrades. There is something for everyone, stick around.

I like the 834, I have a few examples of them. I'm a huge fan of the stockman pattern in the jigged delrin.

Glenn

hey thanks! yea, i was reading all the posts yesterday. but i cant help but love schrade knives. my father passed when i was 7, and i have 2 of his old timers he won in the cotton mill, and a uncle henry that he used daily. i hope someday to pass'em on. i am 26 yrs old, and i went thru the whole "razzle dazzle" of pocket knives, buying spyderco, columbia river, and even case, but none of them have the feel a schrade has. there just seems to be more of a nostalgia to schrade than other knives. i look forward to reading posts everyday from here.

Okay, here is my next offering.

These are Schrade Cut Co's, 3 1/8" closed. The closest match I have for them is the 7424.

And here is a schrade "fixed blade", pattern 173, 6 1/2" OAL. It looks like a Cocobolo handle, but you never know. ;)

enjoy...

Glenn,
I saw you bidding on the 1st 2 and was glad to see they went home with you.
The 2nd picture shows the 2 stripped gentlemans pocket knife but I cant make out the color of the stripe. I have a thing about candy cane/striped knives.
Seems like I'll have to dig out some of the older ones for show and tell.
Happy New Year all.
Larry

Black stripes, Larry...

Glenn

I like the 173 Glenn. I haven't seen a fixed blade one before. I have a 175RB which looks very much like a folding version of your knife w/o the nice wood handle. Isn't that what they call a florist pattern?

Dale

Yes, I believe the 175 is used as the florist's pattern. As a matter of fact, here is an oddity I posted quite a while back:

It appears that someone grafted a pederast to an anglican bishop....

Sorry, that was a Monty Python skit, it looks like someone took the time to put this nice 175 blade on this bone camper pattern. At least nobody here recognized the knife, so that was our conclusion. Actually, maybe that was the blade from a sailor's knife, I can't recall that pattern # off the top of ny head.

The FB 173 has a much smaller blade, almost 1/2 the size of the sheepsfoot in this picture.

Glenn

Okay, here is the next offering...

I have always had a fascination with the Imperial line, especially the style with the two-tone paint job and the chrome strip. I'm not sure of the art style, but something about these screams early 60's to me. This one is neat cause it has a pen as one of the "blades". (Well, they do say 'the pen is mightier than the sword' ) :p 2 1/4" closed

This other one is a Schrade Walden 775, 2 7/8" closed. It says 'stainless' on the shield. Not much else to say, a real pretty knife.

These don't seem be very rare but it's one of my favorites, and one of the few I have outside the UH,OTs.

Upstream, I've seen the Schrade/Walden 735 with handles like yours and also the traditional Staglon. Is yours bone or plastic?

Glenn, Nice knives and pictures as usual, thanks.

Upstream, a good old Schrade rigging knife, we knot nuts can really appreciate a good marlin spike and sheepsfoot.

Luis

Nice rigging knife! Looks mint. I have a black handled Walden without the lock, slightly used...

Thanks for sharing...

Glenn

Glenn, I've never seen one of those with a bail or black handles, very nice knife. Is it bone or Delrin?

IIRC, it's delrin...

Glenn

I believe mine is derlin or some type of plastic. It has some scratches on the blade and has been sharpened, razor sharp I might add. The only reason I don't carry this knife is because the lock release for the spike is very uncomfortable in the pocket.

Here is something not Schrade but unique. Its a Zippo salesmans sample case in the form of a notebook. My father used to sell just about anything he could and this was left over in his sample closet. The knives on the left page are all tang stamped Bradford PA. There are 2 tape measures and lighters as well as a couple of golf markers and key chains and 2 pens in the center.
Just kinda neat.

For Schrade content I said every knife has a story.
This little Honeywell fob knife was given away for a 1 year anniversary gift back in the 60's and 70's. My mother was head of personel and when these became obsolete she knew whom would love em!

Then I have this sweat little Imperial 2 3/4 pen knife. No real story yet but its gonna have one soon.

Have a great one.

 This doesn't have to do with the young man who proposed to daughter #3, a shovel, and a hunting trip, does it?

Codger :D
