The other ZT no one is talking about! ZT0456

Love mine. All my other ZTs are CF but I took a chance on this one and boy was I surprised. The best action of all my ZTs but it is a bit heavy. It's become my personal favorite. It's where I tell people start when they get into ZTs now. Absolutely love it.

So it has been almost a year since I originally posted this thread and I still stand by my original statement. I carry 2 knives every day and the ZT0456 is always one of them. I still use the heck out of it everyday cutting up boxes, tape and what ever other knife need I might have. To this date I have only had to strop it to get it back to a nice everyday use sharp. I know it is not for everyone, but if one knife was perfect for everyone I would be out of business. If this knife is appealing to you then don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed!

A few pics of mine over the past year!

How is this as a slicer ?

Pretty damned good in my opinion. Grabbed an orange off the tree to showcase the slicing action and got it as paper thin as I could go. Cut through the orange like butter.

I think its a great looking knife. But i would like to hold it in hand before getting one. Its a little put of my budget too sadly...

Yeah, it's not cheap. I probably would not have bought it but I had some Cabela's bucks to use so it only cost me about $130. Those bucks would have been better spent on a scope, red dot sight, or ammo but that's what I typically get and wanted something different.

This revived thread is really getting me annoyed at the fact that tomorrow is President's Day. Delays to the mailcall are the worst.

Black wash version is calling my name.. Looks better than the original configuration to me YMMV.

ZT 0456BW is a Sprint Run and already available at some dealers.

^^^^^Oh I want that. ZT's blackwash is my favorite finish. Now am I willing to sell my current 0456 to get one....

I'm glad to see this thread still going. I have owned many knives over the years from Kershaw to CRK. I've always found that I come back to Zero Tolerance for quality and fit and finish. I see many people mentioning that price is an issue for them. But, the materials used on most of their knives constitute quite a bargain in the knife world, in my humble opinion. As far as the 0456, it is my favorite ZT thus far and I have owned quite a few. The knife is just amazing.

As I look at the photos of each 0456 version I'm starting to think the blue hardware would look nice against the blackwash. I know not everyone likes it on the original but I do. I also like the blue hardware on my CRKs, even when worn. The BW 0456 needs something for contrast like the 0095's silver accented pivot.

Oh man that BW is so calling my name. I already have two versions of this knife (an original and one that was anodized blue/gold) but I might need another one to add to my collection!

The blue/gold version is my EDC today. Such a smooth little knife, and I really like that Wharncliffe-style blade.

So here's a dilemma: Since getting my ZT 0456, it's been my "special" knife. I haven't really cut anything with it, and I'm very careful when carrying it. I've thought almost from the beginning I should get a 2nd 0456 that I can "use." But that 0456BW looks to be a much better "user." Which should I get? Decisions...decisions....

OK size wise i have zt 0900 so how does the 0456 feel in the hands ?This knife growing on me .

Since this one popped back up, I gotta say, I keep thinking I'm gonna sell mine...but then I just can't. Don't know what it is about this knife.

Anyways, since I can't seem to sell it, last night I decided to see what would happen if I reprofiled it down to 15 degrees per side. I'll let the pics do the talking but let me tell ya, it's one of the meanest slicers I've pulled off the Wicked Edge. Just crazy scary sharp.
