Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)
On this Day, September 3rd, 1777. The Battle of Cooch's Bridge.
This marked the first time the Stars and Stripes was flown in battle.
(would not have been the circular pattern shown on the plaque)
I thought it interesting that the British troops were accompanied by several thousand Hessian Jaegers.

In keeping with the flag theme, this week I have the July 2019 BOTM with the Lucite Betsy Ross flag motif handle. My opinion is this was the best BOTM ever made.

Flag trivia. George Washington was the only president (1789-1797) to serve under a 13 star flag. The 13 star flag was used 18 years, 1777 to 1795. The original Flag Resolution of 1776 did not specify how the stars were to be arranged in the field of blue, so many different arrangements were used. For sure Betsy Ross was a flag maker, not the first but history did give her the named credit for the circular star flag. Betsy Ross was raised a Quaker and as such would have been an abolitionist so why view the flag as a symbol of racism? The Betsy Ross circular pattern appeared in the early 1790's. If that is true, near as I can figure, Nike and Kaepernick claiming the Betsy Ross flag was the Revolutionary war flag is incorrect as the war was 1775-1783.
At Biden's inaugural ceremony, five flags adorned the West Front of the Capitol. The flag of the United States is displayed in the center flanked by 2 different 13 star flags. The design of the second flag is often attributed to Francis Hopkinson, a member of the Continental Congress. The two outer flags, popularly known as the Betsy Ross flag.
