The Unofficial, Official Blade Show 2018 Thread

"Concealed carry is prohibited at Cobb Galleria. Under no circumstances will guns be allowed in the Cobb Galleria under their no weapons policy. Knives are only allowed in if an attendee will be showing it to an exhibitor, and you must disclose that information up front. No weapons may be carried in concealed."

Seems like some nonsense. In my 9 or 10 years of attending(as a patron and exhibitor)Ive never stopped and read the rules so I'm not sure if this is new or not.

That being said....Imma have a couple on me
Thanks! That’s what I was confused about. Although the exhibitor rules understandably don’t apply to attendees per se, I wouldn’t want to run into any trouble or be perceived as violating any requirements.

Interesting...

I'll be packing pretty light, flying in with only a carry on and shipping anything I buy to myself. I have a couple knives I might like to bring along, but I would have to ship those to my gracious host before hand... Probably just skip the brought from home wheeling and dealing material and work with anything I buy while I'm there.

Counting down the days!

I've wondered about these "knife-free zones" and how Georgia's definition of a knife factors in. Last year, HB-292 changed the definition of a knife to the following:

'Knife' means a cutting instrument designed for the purpose of offense and defense consisting of a blade that is greater than 12 inches in length which is fastened to a handle.

12 inches and greater?! That's a dang katana. Haha.

Not having a blade at Blade boggles my mind. For the disclosed knives, where do they put the safety ziptie? :D

That rule was there last year in 2017 when I went I did heed it for day 1 but after seeing no one really appearing to follow it or be stopped I carried as normal the following days. If they said something you just say it is to show to a vendor/exhibitor.

I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding of GA state law is that venue rules and postings have no weight of law.

That said, if a property owner or manager asks someone to leave, and they do not, it is trespassing.

But those who have reciprocity with GA or otherwise want to exercise their rights at the venue, do so knowing folks may not like it, but short of a metal detector or a security check you won't be asked to leave and you won't be doing time.

I had started typing up something similar after doing some research, but decided against it. Couldn't have worded it better than that. Thank you .

The rule in GA is that a business has to inform an armed person of their no carry policy. At that time the person carrying has to cooperate.

I have been escorted from the blade show floor for carrying a pistol at the show. For the rest of the day that pistol was in my hotel room. I was informed at the time ( this was a few years back) that there are no weapons allowed at Blade Show. LOL.

Yeah don't carry a firearm but I think bladed items will be overlooked during BladeShow given the subject of the event.

I'm making the thousand mile drive and will be set up in the "Collector's Area" in the atrium. Stop by and say hello, I'll be displaying my Barry Wood Knives collection... over a hundred. This pic is from last year.

Ok, pretty sure I'm going to make the drive down on friday. Where's the best place to park?

im not being a smart ass...but the first spot you see.
unless you get around back to the hotel, all the spots are essentially the same walking distance from the parking decks

If you pull into the main entrance of the Galleria, there will be an entry on the roundabout for the parking garage. Otherwise, park at any one of the shopping centers across the street and walk from there.

Where to *potentially* find Fiddleback Forge and Family knives at Blade. If anyone knows of others, please chime in. I couldn't find where KSF has a booth/table or not.

Note: Osprey Knife & Tool and Jarrett Fleming will not have booths/tables this year. But you still might find some of their wares.

Does the Russell, Kyle and John show have a name on the Exhibitors list or sharing the Forge table?
