im not pretty sure how long this models have been out, however i havent come across a review for this knife. this babies come in two sizes, held both and played with both. the larger one fills the hand better but the smaller one is small enough to be hung along with ur keys, i got the smaller one for this reason. anyway these babies are a bang for ur buck. dont know why not many people mention them when some need suggestion for knives?

as usual the knife came in the crkt fip top box. the moment it came, i thought that this knife wwas built to fit any kinda hands, be it small or big. the handle material sorta grips u, if u know what i mean. the grey zytel was pleasing to the eye and somewhat different fm the usual black. when held in reverse grip the knife again fits perfectly since there are hardly any contours on the handle for ur fingers. therefore it can be held in saber or reverse grip without any uncomfortablity. cause of the zytel handle, even when my are wet, the knife doesnt seem to slip like other kknives with metal handles.

the blade thou aus6 manages to maintain its sharpness for a reasonabily long time. thou bead blasted the blade still has that slight sheen to it which makes it even more attactive. the finish is not as dull as other blades of crkt for example the m16. it also seem to be more corrosion resistant when compared to the other crkt blades. the blade was shaving sharp out of the box. went to work on the blade straight away. it was cutting through industrial plastic like hot knife through butter. after which it still manage to have the ability for skinning. fm slicing meat to cutting fruits, this knife has do me good. with the blade having a kinda filpper thingie on itself, it can be easily deployed fm ur pocket. hold the knife against the edge of ur pocket a give it a slight tug. the blade is then fully deployed and ready for action. the head is so pointed that stabbing is of now problem, what do u think it can do for u if if comes to slahing whatever it may be?

as for the locking, the knife manage to pass the spine whack test. and for use like cutting through thick cartons to chamfering wood and to cutting industrail cable tie. the lock is pretty secure for me. in fact when applying the spine whack test the liner seem to bend and the part in contact with the blade seem to be pushed more inwards providing a firmer and more reliable lock up.

the clip gripped my pants without tearing it when removed fm the pocket. with the the matte finish on the blade is gave the overall appearance of the blade a look that u couldnt help falling in love with. whats more if ur not a big fan of clips it can be easily removed if u wished.

i have to say that this has to be one of my favourite knives due to its look, its edge retantion, its usability, its durable, and its firm lock up. for me it has to be one of crkt's best knives. cheap and durable, what more can one ask for?

Just got my large Urban Shark today along with 4 other folders I ordered. I agree, it is a very nice knife for the money. It opens smoothly and locks up tight, and the handle is comfortable, if somewhat small for a pocket 'tactical'. Mine was also wicked sharp OOB, but the edge bevels aren't quite equal. I also find it strange that the back side of the serrations are beveled on this knife, I've never seen that before.

I have the large model of the Urban Shark and it came super sharp. I really like the knife overall. The only problem I had with it was it came open in my pocket twice, the second time cutting me easily like a scapel. Just be carefull with it.

Possibly owing to the thickness of the handle combined with the design of the thumb stud, this seems to be a common trait of the Urban Shark. I put a hole neatly through the pocket of a pair of jeans while clipping the knife there.

What Razor said.

Its been my experience as well. The mushroom-shape of the thumb studs do tend to catch on things. Other that that its a good inexpensive knife. If you like CRKT check out the Mirage series - I've got two and have given away a couple more as presents.

I have carried one for awhile and I have also had mine come open while being pushed into a front pocket. Overall though it is a great little blade. Just wish CRKT would bring them out with more of a spearpoint blade.

Oh well can't have everything.
