For as long as i can remember i've been fascinated by the mountain godess Sagarmatha... or as the world knows her... Mount Everest and the men with the sheer audacity and brass to challenge her. The Mallory Expeditions and especially the last Mallory-Irvine expedition where they were lost are particularly interesting and poignant.
To climb this mountain in the 1920's with basic equipment must've been an act of sheer will on their part.

Long ago and far away i dreampt of seeing the view from the summit, but now I've long since given up any aspiration to climb Everest. I have no aspiration to become another one of the hundreds of bodies littering the dead zone there.
I usually watch every show and documentary i can find on the subject and i just found this one on youtube that i'd like to share with you all.

This first movie/documentary deals with Mallory and Irvines life and the controversy about whether or not they managed to summit before they were lost.
The Second set of videos documents the search for Mallory and Irvine. Mallory was found, but Irvine is still among the missing and the controversy continues...............

Be advised there is a bit of graphic views of the deceased in both videos.

What is amazing is that climbers typically lose 30-40 lbs during the attempt, including a significant amount of brain mass.
