These videos are by another forum member who hangs out at Tinkering&Maintenance (knifenut1013). His tutorials and posts on knife sharpening theory and technique really helped improve my own sharpening skills. He does some incredible freehand sharpening.

His guides:
The first sharpening
The Burr
How to make a strop

Here is a short video I made yesterday that gives you an idea of how fast a large power hammer can draw out a damascus billet.

Some scenes show the initial weld and drawing. No scenes show the folding and re-weld process.

Some of the methods are sketchy for my taste but I like this video series(The Passionate Apprentices) very much...

Here's a cool video I found wondering around YouTube. I figured I'd post it, might be a good comparison to what happens to a knife blade when quenched in water, even though it looks like he drops it in the water quite a bit hotter than what you would a knife blade. Right when he drops it into the Water you can see the Laden Frost Effect take place witch doesn't allow the water to tough the steel and cool it. It takes a few seconds for the ball to cool down enough for the water to actually tough it. When it does cool down enough its pretty violent. Oil quench for me. :0) http://youtu.be/9qSEfcIfYbw
