http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/369280-Does-anyone-EDC-a-huge-SAK?

I found this thread while browsing around and thought I'd post the link here; maybe get some fresh opinions...

What's the thickest SAK you carry for EDC and how do you carry it?

For me, two stacks or less is best for deep-pocket carry, three-stack models are only a scale width thicker than a double (unless you go alox) but any bigger and I won't carry it. Just too bulky to sit comfortably in the pocket and I'm not big on belt pouches/sheaths.

How about you? :)

Swisschamp in sheath, in fact I am wearing it now. Sometimes I carry it suspended by belt hanger into my RF pocket. It hasn't been too much for me, although I realize others may have different levels of tolerance.

6 Layers, that's a Handyman in its sheath on my belt. And that's already pushing it for me, I find 6-layer-models a bit too bulky for my likes

I'm not a fan of the sheaths either. I carry a swiss champ when I hike. It doesn't really get used but I like having it with me.

Four layers, Victorinox Huntsman. Has the tools I need, and pocketable. I have a Cybertool that I use occasionally around the house, but I doubt I'd ever carry it.

I have a spartan model that has the led light in it, and while i do carry it i wish i had gotten a regular spartan instead. the light makes it too thick

For A While I EDC'd An Explorer - 4 Layers.
Then I EDC'd My Huntsman - 4 Layers.
And Now I EDC My Custom Made SAK - 6 Layers.

I Also Carried My Silver Alox Cadet - 2 Layers.

But I Love Large SAK's With Lots Of Tools, So My 4 - 6 Layers Are Perfect. And My Six Layer Is Currently My Favorite.

I purchased a deluxe tinker with the intent to carry it in my pocket. Wells it turns out it is just a tad big for comfortable pocket carry (4 layers) so I carry it in a nylon sheath on my belt.

I regularly carry my tinker, with a Fenix E01 attached to it with a small piece of paracord.

I got a Camper, love it!

My first SAK was a Spartan, which I found when I was 7. I was flying a kite with my father and accidentally dropped the line, was running for the kite, I fell down and 20 cm in front of me a saw this nice Spartan. Proudly showed my dad, who just came back with the kite. Unfortunately I lost it a few years later, it slipped out of my shorts and I felt heartbroken. After that I've never lost any other knife.

One below would be a bit too much for me for easy pocket carry, but you will definitely notice it when it slips out of your pocket ;)

My Fieldmaster has barely been out of my pocket (except to use it) since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I'm already wondering how I got by without it. Four layers and I wouldn't want any more. I just scored a couple of Super Tinkers though and will be interested to see if I notice the drop from four to three layers when they arrive (2.4mm difference according to sakwiki).

For me is my new Compact, two layers with the very basic tools.
In fact I liked it so much that I bought two.

Huntsman is about as big as I'll carry in my pocket and even that one, I'm now carrying in a pouch, along with flashlight, lighter, bandanna and Blackberry. Come to think of it - with that pouch, maybe I do need a thicker SAK. :D

I'm carrying the Explorer this week in my left front pocket, next to a Fenix LD10 flashlight. For me the Explorer is the thickest SAK that I'd carry in my pockets. I have no problems with carrying thicker SAKs in a sheath on the belt.

I carry my Victorinox Ruby Tinker in my left jacket pocket for the time being. Otherwise in the summer it goes in the backpack. If I have to carry a SAK in my pants pocket I will go with a Victorinox Cadet because it is slimmer still than the Pioneer.

I just got my first sak. It's a tinker wabemuster and I think it's about as much as i'd ever want to carry at work. I'm in an office all day and don't like sheaths for edc. Every other knife I've edc'd at work has had a pocket clip so I can carry it inside my waist band.

Fieldmaster has been with me for 25+ years. On the jobsite when I first got it back in the late '80s it was usually in a slot on my tool pouch, sometimes in my front left jeans pocket. When I moved to a job where I could not wear a tool pouch I bought a leatherman belt carrier for it. The four layers feel a bit too thick for me to comfortably carry in a pocket now, since I have grown accustomed to my Kershaw Leek as pocket carry. So, when I do carry it on my person (I have a Huntsman in the bookbag that goes everywhere with me), it rides in that sheath on my belt -- though the sheath is nearly worn out, time to invest in a new one I guess.

Vic Huntsman in the right/back pocket with a monkey-fist lanyard tucked under my belt. Sometimes a Vic Safari Trooper in a shirt pocket or front pant pocket.

My Farmer is the thickest that I own and for pocket carry that's about my limit. I've been spoiled by my 84mm Tinker and Cadet.
