Hello
I am looking to a thin American made flipper with a blade in the 3.25-3.75" blade, titanium or CF scales
I like my TRM Atom and I would like to get something similarly thin that is a flipper

What would you recommend?

Ideally under 500$

Do you consider Canada "American?" If so, I recommend the Skaha II. It rockets out, falls shut, and looks great.

I was wondering if suggesting this would be too cheeky, but you beat me to it! I've got a Skaha II in S35VN, how are you liking the Magnacut?

For OP, I've got a few thin American suggestions in CF; the Kershaw Leek in CF and 154CM, Benchmade Bugout or Mini Bugout in CF and S90V... I really love my Spyderco Native 5 in CF and S90V.

The magnacut is amazing, I feel free to use it however I want knowing how tough the blade is.

The Southern Grind Penguin sounds perfect for you, although it appears to be out of stock most places. Titanium Framelock, flipper, S90V steel, made in the USA, and inside your price range.

If you're willing to consider aluminum and button locks, you should look at the ProTech Mordax and Spartan Pallas.

I know you want american but have you looked at a spyderco swayback. You have to like that style of knife but the blade is thin. It is not a flipper though.

That was fast! 😁

I didn't even know that existed!

I have a 0562CF on the way, so I'm in a ZT frame of mind. May have to check this one out.

Thanks!
You might also like the ZT0707! I love mine, but I know it's not for everyone. I probably should have mentioned it in my first reply, since the op was looking for flippers.

Seriously one of my favorite lightweight folders, zt just nailed the 0990. The materials are flawless, the cf is a basic but thick weave, and the design is kind of futuristic looking. Exceptional slicer.

I'm on the wait list for the Skaha II.

As far as those other knives, only the Leek has a flipper tab. The Leek was my primary "office carry" for roughly a decade. I love the blade shape in that kind of role. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it today. Assisted action was a reasonable answer back when good manual actions were rare or expensive. It was downright impressive twenty years ago. Nowadays, it just feels janky.

I've also grown to hate manual safety mechanisms on EDC knives. Unfortunately, it was necessary on the Leek. Like some other Speedsafe knives, my Leeks all had detent slop and could be pushed out a little without engaging the assist. Unlike a lot of other Kershaws, the blade could stay pushed out a little with the tip slightly exposed. Catching that tip the wrong way on a finger would be bad enough but most ways this could happen would also tend to pull the blade further out, possibly engaging the assist. 😮
