Marine ILBE MOLLE main pack and assault pack.
Thoughts on those who have this or used this pack are greatly appreciated.
Price is $150 for main pack and assault pack.

We'll, first off if it's its mil spec and $150 give it a go. But that's a lot of pack for $150, also they look like different camo patterns, is that just the picture?

On personal experience ( I have about 17 packs, maybe I should join a bag forum...or support group). Whenever you get that much pack for that low of a price the manufacturer will skimp in places where it matters (like the stitching, zippers, carry handles and clips).

But, if you are looking for a new pack I would absolutely ditch ALICE and move to something with PALS (MOLLE) as it has become the standard. Tek Lok will change your life ;).

See if you can figure out the maker of the bag, if not and you have a good gut feeling or a good warranty/return policy, pull the trigger.

Yeah im going to look at it later today. If its legit I will know.

They are a huge improvement over the old alice packs. The wait distribution is much better, that said its a big fairly heavy pack and when you add in the assault pack its very heavy. They are well made and very durable though I think the current maker is Arc'teryx.

Arc'teryx?! Jump all over that if that's true.

The marine pack is better I think than the current army pack too, although its a good pack the internal frame on the marine version makes it more comfortable I think. I humped those alice packs more miles than I really want to remember, fortunately the current generation aka my daughter is issued the new molle packs which are far more adjustable and comfortable.

Ditching the ALICE is never a bad thing, IMO, but that pack is huge.
With the assault pack attached, it's over double the capacity of a medium ALICE pack, and weighs around twice as much, too.
Designed by Arc'teryx, made by Propper.

You can find those ILBE Packs for a LOT less if you look around. Granted they will be lightly used but usually in very close to new condition. Mine has a bit of loose stitching on the waistbelt strap and a busted slider on the load lifter strap but other than that it looks nearly new.

Look at Midway USA... they have those on sale for $80. You may even find them cheaper on ebay.

I had one. I hate packs with excess straps and complicated cinches and zippers. I'm a huge fan of more simply designed packs.

The packs are made by Propper, are HEAVY, decently durable, massive capacity, with a decent suspension. I hated them when they were issued, and used an ALICE with frame whenever I could because the ALICE rides over armor much better. This pack, it's called the ILBE, rides pretty well without armor though.

$150 is ok if it's brand new, but these are all DRMO now, so you can find them MUCH cheaper.

The small bag is a digital camo Jansport, and not worth any money IMO.

If it were my money, I would find one elsewhere that is cheaper. Or find a similar pack that is lighter.

I might recommend a pack mfg. from the civilian sector? Osprey makes amazing packs. I build trails for a living in the mountains, living out of my pack for an 8 day, 10 hour a day work week. My ospreys have held up to the beating and are the most comfortable packs I've ever used. Plus they have an excellent warranty and great customer service. You can pick up a used one for around $150 as well.
