Hey guys I'm in the market for a new Zero Tolerance knife. I love my 0350 and this kind of feels like cheating on it but this beat is such a brick in my pocket it's got me curious to find out if any of the other models are lighter and thinner?

I've fallen in love with the beefy hardware and made in the USA construction of the 0350 especially the S30V steel which is harder than rocks, believe me it's gone head to head with a few, and would like to find another model.

If you have any suggestions or if you think you know the right model for me I would greatly appreciate it! Pics would be awesome too with comparisons to thin popular knives like the Delica and Mini Grip.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

I think right now the 801 is one of the thinnest ZT knives. Zero Tolerance isn't really a "slicer" kind of company. I'd look at the Spyderco Chaparral, Caly series, the Dragonfly 2(ridiculous cutting ability), and the Centofante series. Benchmade has some thin blades as well, like the 555hg, Shoki, and Shori. The Ontario Rat 2 is an awesome cheap slicer. However, Opinel is the king of slicers with a zero grind.

Hate to go off track, but I think you are looking for a more useful cutting tool, and it probably lies with another company that specializes in that. ZT is way more focused on the hard use aspect.

Already got most of those. I like the construction of the ZT line. The g10 titanium liners DLC coating etc. And the toughness. I have other lighter knives. I guess what I'm asking is what is the lightest ZT they make? And does anyone have comparison shots?

As I said, the 801 and I'd also say the 770. ZT isn't quite there on the lightweight aspect. Of their line, those are the two smallest/thinnest.

Here's a comparison between the knife you mentioned and an 0770.

The ZT 770 is thinner and pretty light weight. It would be fair to call it a slicer.

Edit to add, the 350 and 770 look nearly the same size but they feel much different in hand and in the pocket. The 770 is light and slim, whereas the 350 hefty and wide. Both good knives just different animals.

Try the ZT 770 which is thinner and narrower than ZT 0350 with the same blade length. 0770 has aluminum scales and weighs just 3.75 ounces compared to 5.8 ounces for the 0350. You can go even lighter with the new 0770CF but it costs quite a bit more.

All I know for sure is that the 0566 is pretty darn thin. Feels great in the pocket and carries deep.

As others have mentioned, the ZT 0770 feels like a much lighter, thinner knife than the 0350 (I also have both).

The 0566 is slim and rides well in the pocket, but it is oddly hefty for its size so may not be the best choice if lightweight is your primary concern.

Here are some shots of it next to a manix2. Sorry for the crappy pics.

Hope that helps.

ETA: Sorry, just realized how ridiculously huge those pictures are. If you right click and open time by themselves they look a little better. Sorry about that.

I agree with the above about the 0566. I like the 0350, but I must agree, it's thick and I know it's there when I reach in my pocket. I just got in an 0801 and a techno this week, and to me,the 0566 still just feels and carries so good I can't hardly keep it out of my pocket. That said, the 0801 is ridiculously smooth opening. I've never felt anything like it honestly. I'm still going to be thumping in the 0566 tho. Hats off to ZT for some good stuff.

The 0400 Scavenger is the thinnest ZT of all. It's a slightly bit thinner than the Kershaw Blur.

Going by memory, I'd say the 0566 is the thinnest. The 0770 also carries very comfortably in pocket, but the handle has a bit of a swell that might make it a bit thicker. I'll check when I get home.

In the meantime, here are some other comparisons shots I've taken in the past. Of these, I'd say the 0566 is closest in thickness to the Sage2 (just a fraction of a millimeter thicker).

Here it is next to some other ZT's (left to right - 0566, 0550, 0560):

Here are a couple other shots comparing the size of the 0566 with the 0350:

You guys have it all wrong. The 0400 is the thinnest ZT folder ever made so far. I know because I've owned most of ZT's offerings. It's thinner than the 0566, 0750, and 0780.

I just measured the overall thickness of a bunch of "thin" ZTs. Interesting to see if 0770CF beats these:

  • 0566: 0.433"
  • 0770: 0.463"
  • 0350: 0.495"
  • 0700: 0.497"
  • 0780: 0.503"
  • 0400: 0.520"
  • 0750: 0.567"

For comparison, Kershaw Leek is 0.318".

Weight-wise it's definitely 0770CF and 0770 in that order.
