Hi, I just started to get into knives and I bought the hissatsu and am getting the kershaw skyline. What do you guys think on the Otanashi Noh Ken, a possibly bigger and better version of the hissatsu? All thoughts and opinions are welcome, thanks!

My only experience with it was having it on a sort of "wish list" where I put tons of knives that catch my eye online.
After a while, as more knives were added to the list, and as I learned more about what I wanted in a knife, I went back and removed the Otanashi Noh Ken.

There's just too many other knives around the $100 price point that I'd so much rather have and would server me so much better.
Just a personal preference.
From my limited experience handling various brands of knives, CRKT, SOG and Gerbers tend to rank low on my list. By and large, they just don't do it for me.

I think you'll be quite pleased with the Skyline. It used to go for closer to $30, but it's reputation has really grown in the past 5 or 6 years and even at around $45, it's still a great, super lightweight EDC.

It's not incredibly practical, but it's a lot of fun and a nice knife. Fit and finish was good, pivot was smooth and lockup was good.

If you are attracted to the design; go for it. It's a great knife. IMHO AUS8 is better than 8cr. As in, vastly. But then again I've only been disappointed by 8cr. The lock is great. The feel of the knife is great. Fun to play with. You may have to loc-tite the pivot screw to keep it from loosening , as I did. Since I did that I've had zero issues with the pivot screw. Also, if you are expecting an edc knife or a wicked slicer, get something else. The thick , narrow saber ground blade does not have the edge geometry for slicing. Mine did come sharp, however, and the point is needle sharp . Very grabby/stabby. All in all a great knife . I think it's absolutely worth the $100. If Jack Bauer ever let go of his Microtech Halo this would be a perfect alternative! :D
