Hi guys! Im new to bladeforums nice meeting everyone! I have recently growing fond of knife throwing and been throwing for a week or so, im currently practicing the no spin throw from 6-8 feet, the knife sticks quite well the only problem is that my knife spiral or so called spin like a bullet shooting out from a rifle, the entire blade turns 'upside-down'(180 degree) when it sticks to the target. Could anyone advice me on this matter? Its really getting frutrated, i hit the target with the wrong technique. I dont think its my blade because they are quite good, Gil Hibben Gen-X set and of couse i throw with Gil technique which is placing my index finger on the spine of the blade and the handle locks well at my palm. So could anyone pls tell me whats the problem exactly? I googled it but the answer didnt at all. Many thanks!

Thank you for responding, the thread says his knife rotates because it was not a good blade, i think my situation is rather different because i have tried a various type of blade and they all are the same. So any advice?

Welcome sir. Good luck with your throwing. I've been doing it for years, and couldn't tell you HOW i throw a knife (i could show you i suppose) but i do know this. It's not the knife. I can throw anything from a kitchen knife to a specialized thrower, and hit what i'm aiming at from 6 to 15 feet. To go beyond that, i usually need a heavier blade... couldn't tell ya why.

I don't use a handle throw, i use a 180 degree rotation from a blade grip.

Once you get a feel for it, it becomes instinctive. YOU are the determining factor. Every knife can be thrown, you just have to feel the balance.

Thanks so much for the advice! That makes me feel better because now i know all i need to do is to practice and practice again. Cheers!
