Thumb Stud on a Buck 112?

I just recently got a buck 112 as a gift, and I had forgotten how nice these classic lockbacks are. There is zero bladeplay when it is open. It is a very sturdy folder. Now that I am done telling you all things that you already know, I have a question. Has anyone ever drilled a hole for a thumbstud on one of these knives? I am seriously considering doing this.

I've heard of it, But I've never seen it done before, They can open pretty easily (for Automatic converisons). I can easily open my Buck 112 Hunter with the Classic "New York" opening. But I remeber trying to snap open some schrade lockback and I ended putting a C-shape scar on my right thumb. Any knife customizers have advice for MW740?

Instead of going though all that hassle of drilling you may want to consider and aftermarket thumbstud attachment like the 'One armed bandit'. I have one of the larger ones on my SOG Tomcat and it works great.

How does that Bandit (one hand opener) affect the fit of a 110 in and out of a Buck Nylon Cordura Sheath ? I've seen some other post where guys have had to use different sheaths to allow for the fit?

Any Comments?? TIA!!!

Dan,
Sorry, I have no idea. Been awhile since I've had a 110, and I never used a "one-armed bandit". Was just passing along the link, since it seemed to fit what MW was looking for.

I haven't tried the Cordura sheath, but I can tell you that the fit of a 110 in a leather sheath is not affected by the presence of a One Armed Bandit.
