Timber framing slick. Steeled wrought iron

Those came out really nice, good work. What length of handle are you planning for it?

I'm open to suggestions.. I'm not a timber framer.. I make tools and forgings and usually leave that up to the person who buys them. the other chisels were handled by a friend of mine who does timber framing.

FWIW, the handles of all my vintage ones tend to protrude from the socket close to the same length as the blade and socket combined, giving total lengths of 29-34”. My favorite is the longest, well balanced at 3-1/4” wide and handforged.

Most of my handles have a ball or knob at the end, with enough overall weight to use as a giant paring chisel. The strike rings on the framers are a good idea, as they’re more likely to be struck.

Parker, thanks for the feedback.. Slicks are a different beast for sure.. pushed vs struck.. Do you have a way to post photo on here? I'd love to see what you have.

I don’t, sorry. I live way out in the sticks with such bad signal that I often have to send a message more than once before it goes through.
