Tinkering with some carry options

Rough leather is a great idea for pocket carry.

I have a mummert clip on my Dek and it is always pulling out my pocket threads. When I carry the kephart, I just throw it in my pocket sans clip. Also make it easier to reach into my pocket.

The pocket clip seems to want to scratch stuff too. Like car paint. I might try one for my field knife. I think I will make it the same size and shape as the sheath. Basically just adding a rough leather back.

For belt carry, when the sheaths don't come with a drop loop, I'll cut a 12 inch 9 oz leather strip and make a dropped belt loop, I'll snap a picture of my medium chopper sheath here shortly. My favorite belt carry option though, I get from David Brown of BuyBrown kydex. It's the four post dangler plate with RMJ tactical low ride MOC straps. Makes for an excellent drop loop that gets the knife a little ways off the body, so that handle doesn't poke you in the ribs, and you can split the mount across your belt loops. Also keeps everything synthetic, which allows your to wash all the grit and dirt off/out of your sheaths after roughing it without needing to take them apart. Here is the setup on a Busse sheath, I need to get some made up for my Carothers.

Those moc straps are great. I used them on a battle saw before. I just attached them to the top 2 holes on the sheath. That setup you got is nice.
Thanks! I tried that on another knife sheath before, but I didn't like the spread on a large chopper blade. I ordered my ashbm sheath with the dangler, but didn't like how free it swung. The holes lined up perfectly, so I've got a few of them set up this way now.

Simple leather loop made from a 12 inch strip of 9 oz leather on my cpk and two moc strap plate setups. One is full buybrown, and the other I stole off of a afbm sheath that fit my azwelke ash2 sheath.

If you're refering to the plate I have the straps mounted to, it's the dangler mounting plate from Buy brown kydex. I get them when I order a custom sheath from him. I have him make them mount to both sides of a pancake kydex sheath so the spacing is correct. The barrels between the plate and sheath are extra thick kydex rubber spacers, I'm not sure where he gets them as they come with the setup. The straps are from RMJ Tactical, and are the low ride MOC straps. I think he does custom kydex orders but you'd have to check with him. I order sheaths for Busse Combat as he has most models on hand and doesn't need my knife to make the sheath. I'd have to check and see if he has any CPK on hand. He is an active member on bladeforums, just look for BuyBrown.

Check out Holsterbuilder.com they have nearly everything you could think of for holster and sheath building. I have a variety of posts and screws. The 3 sizes I use most are 1/4”,3/8”,and 1/2”. The 1/8” rubber spacers are great. Sometimes I just double them up but the solid 1/4 or 3/8 rubber are nice when you need them.
