Tip Down, Tip UP?

I go crazy when I do EDC selection for the day:( Ever have the problem when you pull out your knife you're going the wrong way?

I prefer tip-down because I carry IWB at 5-o'clock and there's a different natural rotation of my hand. For front pocket carry, tip-up seems to work better.

GENERALLY I prefer tip-down because I would prefer an accidentally opened knife to not cut me as I reach for it - this has happened to me with a tip-up folder.

Since I carry a Military five days out of the week my PM2 and Native 5 are both set for tip down as well. So my thumb has no problem finding the Spyder hole.

The only other folder I sometimes carry is a BM530. Took the clip off of that any way, just gets carried loose in my pocket.

I only buy tip up otherwise I'd get confused as well plus I don't carry IWB or loose so accidental opening isn't a worry for me.

I only carry tip up because of this. I can deal with differences in thumb hole/studs or lock types, but I can't seem to get past it if I can't carry tip up.

I have to say, in all the confusion I threw the towel in! I've now tap and die'd the exact mid point of all my knives and screwed pocket clips on. Now (in the immortal words of the grand old Duke of York) my knives are neither up nor down!!

scout carry, eh?

Tip down only. Right rear pocket carry.

I'm sad when some knives are only offered in tip up, and it makes me wish they were all drilled for all options :(.

(thinking of Spyderco salt series at the moment).

Depends on the cut of my pants pocket. Jeans or another style that as a horizontal pocket opening and allows a forward draw, tip down. With a more vertical opening that forces rearward draw, tip up.

Can't wave draw in tip down.

Tip up only for me, or pocket carry for smaller knives. Why oh why isn't the BM 761 multi-carry?!

Simple. The designers are traditional, tip down enthusiasts. Who like many old timers find the termite holes of multi carry abhorrent.

I have my fourth tip up waiting for me in a Christmas stocking. Wierd for me. I never really had a tip up before 2014. I had two FRN clip Enduras around 1991,but both clips broke off and I've never had a tip up since. I didn't know the fad of tip up had gone main stream. So I must sound like a cave dwelling maniac when I complain to Sal Glesser about the ugly holes for the multi position clips. I can't help my appreciation of the classic look.

Mostly tip up for me but that doesn't mean I'll exclude a knife I like. The para 1 and Military are great tip down only knives. When you really think about it why does it matter to some so much. I don't think it should make that much of a difference that people make it out to be.
