I like making my own dehydrated foods for the trail, but the cost of dehydrated kidney beans is waaaaay out there. I'd rather buy dried beans in bulk, soak them and cook them and the dehydrate them, as its way cheaper.

any tips though for dehydrating cooked beans?

I done the refried been. After i dry them up i crush them into very small pieces. Boil water then add the beans to it and keep it on simmer. When its almost done add some cheese, Let it melt put some salsa on top and you got a great breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you crush them they would absorb water very fast. White italian beens cook them drain water and mush them add salt and black peper to taste. Cut up some onion into small pieces and add in there as well. Eat all you want as a side dish the rest you can just dry.
Hope that helps out

Buy a dehydrator.

Seriously tho they make great food for trips. I dehydrate full stews and meals including gravy etc. Just add water and heat and presto.

Mmmm Jerky!

Thats a good site and i done the tomato sauce for the pasta backpacking and its great. another thing that worked great was get the garlic and spices packet at the market. when you make the pasta add some olive oil and the packet of spices and you got a great dinner... No wonder i carry too much food/weight with me on backpacking trips lol...
