Titanium hooks or wire, where to buy?

I'm anodizing some stand offs and I need some thinn (paper clip like) titanium hooks. I can't seem to find any place that sells such a thing. I was going to use a titanium tent spike but they are too thick. Any help would be great!
 
Try 6al 4v filler rods for welding you can get them around .030-.055 on ebay. I buy them from my local welding supply.
 
I always just used aluminum wire. Titanium wire is normally used in electroplating.

Yeah, all it will do is anodize the wire as well. I have seen people use copper wire as well as putting the copper clip directly into the electrolyte, but I don't know if that will adversly affect the product. What are you using for electrolyte?

Could put those tent spikes in a drill and sand them to thickness I suppose. But aluminum is easier and cheaper if that works.
 
I take .040 Ti and cut a piece about 1/4" wide then take the band saw and cut 2 slits in it,bend them around into hooks and grind the points down small enough to fit in my stand offs.
Also for anodizing I us a saturated mix of TSP and distilled water.You can get TSP at most any hardware store in the cleaner section.

TSP is used at full saturation, until no more can disolve in water. I use a 60%-67% battery acid solution. 1 part distilled water to 2 parts acid. TSP is far safer to store if you're not familiar with it and spill prevention.

Thanks for the help guys, my cathode can be any metal right? like a paperclip or something? and any other tips to keep me from zapping myself would be appreciated!
 
I use aluminum foil for a cathode, I make a small disc of it to fit the bottom of the bucket. Anode and cathode must never come in contact with each other! Don't grab both leads at the same time.

I use a glass mayonaisse jar, with a sheet of heat treat stainless foil all the way around the inside for a cathode. Then I put a piece of plastic shelf liner inside of that to insulate it from the anode or pieces that I'm anodizing. Solution is saturated TSP. PArts are hung on hooks cut from sheet of titanium. Since most systems are using low amp DC, there really is no worry about getting zapped. I use a DC converter that allows me to go to about 100 volts, but the amps are in the 0.5 range. Not enough to feel even if you grab both ends. Think about what happens when you put your thumb across the contacts on a 9 volt battery = nothing.
The large cathode gives a very even color, and using stainless foil means it will outlast you.

HT Foil works great

I use a square plastic basket in a container for my set up. Phosphate free TSP and distilled water for solution.

Ok, I have to say it, I was confused for a second, I was speaking of anodizing aluminum, not Ti. Please disreguard my previous statements, as I don't have much experiance with anodizing Ti beyond some batteries and diet pepsi for electrolyte. I was just working with some aluminum that day and naturally thought thts what you were talking about.
