Say, has anyone ever come across a titanium split key ring...looking just like any other split key ring that a standard key fob would come with. Only, in groovy titanium...for that coolness factor and strength! Anyone? Anyone?

umm.

just curious... why would they be badass?

i'm not trying to rain on the parade, i'm just wondering whats the advantage?

Titanium would be stronger...and they have much better memory...so they won't bend out of shape like the regular ones (that's my guess). I don't even know what the regular ones are made from. Stainless steel? Nickel/chrome?

They would be lighter too, and the difference would be noticable if you use a lot of them on a key chain/fob, like I do.

Besides just being cool I know that I sometimes use key rings for my snowboard bindings to attach the leash to and something like Ti would give me a little more confidence in it.

If it was anodized different colors or made in a variety of colors that aren't painted on like some key rings that would also be cool. Just a thought :)

I dunno, I think it's just the weird appeal of titanium. Titanium isn't stronger than steel, it's weaker, for the same volume (i.e., to be as strong as a steel version, the titanium version would have to be bigger, though it would still be lighter). I've never seen a steel split ring lose its shape, so I don't think that's a practical advantage either.

However, titanium split rings could be the next Ti spork -- the item that every well-heeled tactical poseur has to have. That's good enough for me :) :)

My limited experience with titanium has left me with the impression that it would have much better memory than steel...that I can bend steel rings out of shape before ti.

I obviously notice more deformation with really small rings, fitting through larger items.

Hmmm, perhaps a possible business venture?

Gotta love those sporks. :D

For you titanium lovers - titanium car parts ; suspension springs , lug nuts ,connecting rods . These can all be found on the new limited edition Ferrari Stradale only $193,000. LOL

Berkeley Point has great items and a super staff!

Try the malls. I've seen designer key chains in artistic shapes and forms that were really lite. Seen them in luggage, stationary and designer gadget stores. I'm not positive that they are titanium though but I know that they're too damn expensive.
